Simply wow! As a non-dog owner and also not having stayed in a caravan since I was a child I was a little nervous with this pick but it turned out to be the most amazing little place in all regards. Super clean. Unbelievably quiet despite other residents having dogs with them -pin drop silent! Beautiful setting with lovely views from our cabin. Absolutely ideal location with easy access to everything you would want to do around Windermere and Coniston and everywhere in between. Just 10min from Grange-over-sands, which is worth a short visit for the stunning views over Morcambe bay and for the best fish and chips ever at “Fish Over Chips”. We stayed in one of the “Hive” cabins, which is on the smaller side but absolutely fine for 2 adults and 2 kids 6y+8y. You can do a number of lovely walks directly from your cabin. There’s a 24hr mini service station with all the groceries you could want just 5min walk from the cabins. I could go on and on but all you really need to know is stay here if you’re planning an active trip and want a well priced, comfy accommodation with easy access to all the main and not-so-main attractions, sights, walks and treks. The only things I would feedback are that the mattress in the Buttermere hive could really do with replacing and the toilet seat needs fixing. But these aren’t enough for me to take away the 5stars!
Just had a three night break in the "Fellside Lodge" as it is dog friendly... great welcome pack for the dog..lots of space outside as it backs on to the fellside. We saw small deer grazing early in the morning from the conservatory window. Lots of shade which was appreciated as very hot. Well equipped kitchen. Spacious living area very clean all round. Nice walk to newby bridge hotel pub around 15 minutes down country lane back of the site. If you like peace and quiet would recommend. Handy for Sizergh castle, only 15 minutes drive to Bowness .
I cannot wait to come back in March I still have so much to explore. The wildlife with its peaceful quietness and the endless trails of if wilderness is something I need right now. Newby caravan park will be my only home in the Lake Districts. Me and my partner are missing this beautiful place so much more than I expected. If anyone is thinking of coming to the lake's book this place. You won't be disappointed!
5 stars+1. More than we expected. Lovely team, professional and friendly. The caravan was super clean and had and the view was amazing.Rooms: 5/5
Excellent stay, spotlessly clean caravan, great location and friendly and helpful staff. Lovely woodland feel to the site, which is well maintained, and a nice playground too.Rooms: 5/5
Lovely stay here very quiet if your looking just to relax its fabulous lovely walks for the dog and a little path to the local petrol station which is convenient if you need anything just that the WiFi is not that great if you want to watch movies on a relaxing break we have stayed here twice now got lovely treats and also treats for our dog thanks for welcoming us the place is Al'so very clean our caravan was spectacular xx
We stayed for 3 nights @ £425 and were initially pleasantly surprised to be greeted with a welcome gift of dog toys, treats and a bottle of prosecco! The van appeared and importantly, smelled clean. All utensils in-place. Some niggles were that it's advertised as 'dog friendly' so it would have been nice to have had a field set aside where the animal could be let off the lead safely. The Caravan was clean, yes, but tired. I’ve seen a review from a couple of years back and it’s the same in that photo, but more overgrown and the lamp has been moved in the front to create a parking spot, but now it shines brightly into the bedroom: Maybe could do with a shroud on one side. Wifi advertised as "FREE", but that is 5Gb of free wifi, you get charged once you go over, so don't expect to be able to stream many movies in the evenings. We ended up using our mobile data plan. The location of the van wasn't good I'm afraid. More or less a stones throw away from the A590 and a service station so with the thin walls, the night was filled with the sound of bikes or cars revving engines, it was more noisy than our house in the city! We actually went under the assumption that we'd been put in that van because we had a dog, so stupidly put up with things. Can't blame the park for that. I can though say that when you pay money to stay somewhere, you don't expect the place to ask you to strip your own beds before you leave! I thought my wife was just being herself when we did it, only to find out it had been asked of us. It was a surprise to me, first time I've ever needed to do it. This would be a rally nice park, internally quiet no mad parties etc., well kept and a good location for easy access to walks around the lake, after a short car drive. Overall, enjoyed our stay and feel most of these are just niggles we think should be fixed, we would return.
