Story

The campsite is situated 1.5 miles south of the Visitor Centre at Grizedale. Grizedale valley itself lies between Coniston Water and Lake Windermere. A journey of four miles north takes you to the village of Hawkshead and a further 5 miles to Ambleside.Travelling south takes you to the local market town of Ulverston.

We have excellent new facilities at our campsite with camping in the fields adjacent to the farm and in the wooded areas.

Booked via email and then was sent a link. Really easy to do. Stayed in a pod right at the top…. Wish I’d brought my backpacking gear not my family camping gear as it was a yomp up the hill from the car to the pod……. Back breaking! Ask for a pod near the cars if you are planning on taking lots of kit! Pod was basic but clean. Toilets were obviously at the bottom of the hill, as was fresh water - 10 minute round trip! Showers took turns in blasting 30 seconds of cold and then scalding water. If you like your car / van take public transport! All roads onto the campsite are spring breakingly fun, the ride up to the pods especially so. Obviously great location and good value….. good pub in the village, lots to do in the area and though basic the campsite does have a rustic charm.
It's a basic site, but if you're looking for a yurt that's good value then you probably won't do much better than here. It has a good log burner and you can buy wood cheaply. We had planned to camp but the weather pushed us into the yurt, we had everything we needed already so the minimal furnishings were perfect. The yurt we stayed in had a log burner, a table and chairs, a single camping stove and gas and three cheap futons. Bring your own bedding and lights, there is no mains power Within 20 minutes of stepping into the yurt our wet kit was drying and we were cozy and warm.
Nice Large site, long walk to facilities but clean and basic. Stayed 1 night while on a C2C journey May Bank Holiday weekend 2024.Location: 5/5

Stayed in a yurt. It was middle of winter and frozen solid outside. The inside was roasting and lovely and comfyLocation: 5/5
Lovely little campsite! They took us in at very short notice and were very friendly and welcoming. Nice quiet field to camp in even during school holidays. Facilities were basic but clean and had all we needed for a lovely stay.Service: 5/5
Arrived a bit late and it was bucketing down. Lovely Emma sorted us out a yurt to stay in instead of our soggy tents! We almost cried with happiness! What a beautiful site in a perfect valley. And to come home to a fireplace in a very cosy yurt was just incredible. Had such a lovely weekend and never wanted to leave. Thank you so much for having us and for your hospitality. We will be booking again for spring next year. Rooms: Yurts are basic but very cosy. Bring a rug and duvets and pillows, candles or lamps recommended as it gets dark in there. Nearby activities: Walk in the woods, mountain biking Food & drinks: Pub 10 mins walk down the road Noteworthy details: Good facility’s.
Beautiful farm campsite situated in a quiet valley. Beautiful views, surrounded by green scenery and the farm itself. Good facilities, campfires are allowed, there's a pub just down the road...what else can I say? Very pleasant owners who run the farm and the campsite with love. We very much enjoyed our stay!
A tranquil, quiet spot to pitch our tent for the night. We were one of only 3 campers last night. We were served brilliantly upon arrival by the farmer. We were given directions of places on-site and bought some kindling and logs at a reasonable price. The farmer came over to have a chat with us just after sunset and is a salt of the earth man. Would trust him with my life a man's hands say a lot about him and his work ethic. This man has the biggest hands I've ever seen . Would definitely come back. There's also phone signal if that's something you need.
Amazing location but reaching there is tricky especially if you head from South. Glamping pods are very comfortable. Toilets are clean, charging sockets are limited... Pub is just 10 min walkable distance...Rooms: 4/5
