Great experience. Change in appointment and was called a month beforehand to change. Staff on arrival super friendly and kind. Nurse who took blood was fantastic and the doctor was also great. All round a great experience. Be honest when you go - it makes things so much easier.
Poor quality staff, they say they are the only sexual health clinic in Newcastle but aren't taking on any new patients. Receptionist was a bit rude and provided 0 information for where I should go. They have no clue on what they are doing and how to communicate effectively with people. They are going through privatisation from the NHS which is absolutely unacceptable that the NHS has sold off a service that people need and is the "only one in Newcastle" . Absolutely shocking
They just don’t know how to communicate. Not between themselves nor with their patients. You talk on the phone with one of them, book an appointment only to come down and be denied a visit because they don’t even understand how interpretable their own forms are. They also don’t listen to understand. Actually they don’t listen at all and whenever you come back it’s like you’re going there for the first time and they don’t even check the history you have on file.
I was in an Emergency and I was attended directly. Both the staff and manager were really attentive and emphatic, the nursers were quick and professional despite they were extremely busy. It was much appreciated, this is a really good clinic
I really don't understand why the reviews here are so bad. I went in the other day for an iud implant, and the staff were so welcoming and lovely. They talked me through every second of it, made sure I was comfortable, and made small talk with me when they realised I was stressed. Even after the procedure was over, they let me lay there for a while until I was ready to move. Wonderful experience. :
I rang up to schedule a replacement of my IUD mirena after having it in for 5 years. I explained to the male doctor on the phone that despite their guidance recently changing from 5 to 6 years off effective use I can tell it needs replaced as I have started getting cramps, bleeding and hormonal changes including emotional and skin breakouts. Being a women I am well aware of when my body is going through hormonal imbalances. However, this male doctor decided to state that this isn’t the case and I am imagining it. When I explained again I am aware of my body, one of the main reasons I got the coils was for my extremely heavy periods and severe pms he decided to tell me that again it can’t be running out and they will not change it and instead have I had a recent STI test. The sheer rudeness and audacity of a man to tell a woman she is not aware of what is going on within her own body and attempt to degrade her by asking about STI’s which I am fully aware is a normal issue which happens to lots of people and is not shameful but in this instance was never within the realms of possibility as his weapon of choice to tell me I don’t know my own body is reminiscent of Victorian age sexism. I have since rang my GP who agreed with me that it sounds like the hormones have dropped and scheduled me in for an appointment without hesitation. New Croft a bit of advice don’t hire patronising men to tell a female what she is and isn’t feeling within her body.
Horrible experience!!! I booked a smear as I found a lump on my cervix which was worrying me, also very new to the area. The nurse I had blond/fair hair, maybe 50s/60s with glasses could use a refresher on patient communication and turn her empathy switch on. She looked at me like I needed to be shot and said 'What makes you think you can just book a smear?' Well being a taxpayer since I was 16, noticing changes in my body and due a smear in less than 2 months I thought were good excuses but, no. Fair enough, I shouldn't have booked one, but I didn't know and if I wasn't entitled then I also shouldn't have been able to book one either. So, by this point she is still looking at me like I've offended her and says 'the lump you found isn't on your cervix' and I replied 'excuse me?' She then says 'how would you know were your cervix is?' By this stage, I laughed inside. Because this is clearly a woman who has fallen for my baby face and thinks I am some ill-informed teenager. In actual fact, I'm 28, work with the NHS and have been at University for 7 straight years to become a mental health professional. Nevertheless, I think her attitude was terrible and I would never think to treat my own patients this way. If that is what younger individuals have to deal with, then it's no wonder why there is such anxiety around seeking support from GUM clinics. She tried to make me feel like I was inferior and had no clue what I was talking about. Not acceptable.
Came here to have my implant removed and a new one fitted, the actual removal and fitting took less than 2 minutes and the nurse told me exactly what was going to happen, she made me feel calm and didn’t rush me to leave after having the procedure and answered all questions I had. Would defiantly recommend also reception staff are really friendly.
I'm normally full of praise for New Croft Centre, but recently it's been absolutely ridiculous trying to access basic services. Four times now I've been told I'd have to wait up to 4 hours for the 'Express Clinic', I understand it's first come first served but for a self-administered test that takes 5 minutes this makes no sense. I had to book an appointment for three weeks later, I was also told it'd include a completely unnecessary vaginal examination - again, all I needed was a self-administered test which takes only a few minutes, waiting three weeks and wasting staff resources is illogical.
Incredible service. Jayne and Gigi made me feel very comfortable and delivered an excellent service. Thank you
