A loverly English pud with great choice of real ales and really good home cooked food.. I had pan fried pork chop from the specials menu,it was served with 2 fried eggs and excellent home made chips. It was well worth the visit and I would highly recommend a visit if you are ever in Malvern
Probably our favorite pub we came across during our big trip across the UK. Sat with our dog Lucy in front of a wood burning fire to dry off from the cold rain outside, immediately struck up conversation with people all around us, then ate a crazy good dinner in the dining room. Owner and servers we talked to were super friendly…can’t wait to get back there one day.
Was very surprised by this place, the food I had was brilliant and the serving staff were very helpful. Lovely atmosphere and would recommend to anyone. Only thing I would add is a bit more variety to the menu but I understand that the food is handmade. Will come again!
I'd pre-booked table to entertain guests and we got there slightly ahead of our allotted time but although there was a sign talking about precautions and a QR code to scan there wasn't any directions where to go, so we strolled into the bar. The premises insists on masks and all staff are masked up but once seated, they can be removed - pop them back on to wander around when inside the building. We were shown our table which featured a specials board, and a drinks order was taken whilst we waited there's a good range of beers, so we decided to spend the evening sampling most of them. My colleagues elected for the Herefordshire Beef, Mushroom & Ale Pie standard menu, along with Belly Pork off the specials board and both came sitting atop a pile of creamed mash, surrounded by gravy. The belly pork has crispy skin - some good crackling - but required removing the layer of fat between that and the meat well, it's belly pork - you'd expect that. The pie was rich and dense in meat, there was no scrimping on the filling here. Both dishes were accompanied by a small tureen of boiled veg - a nice mix of carrots, peas, cauliflower and broccoli - to round it off and made for a filling meal. I opted for the swordfish steak, which say atop a pile of tomato and onion risotto. I found the fish slightly overdone as the flesh was hard, but wasn't a problem to eat - and the risotto was nicely flavoured with herb oil and sweet tomatoes, although I could have done with less risotto and some veg to the side other than rocket on top. Service was very engaging and although the dining area seemed quite popular, we didn't feel pressured to move, sitting there for a few more drinks. Eventually we shifted outside to continue working our way through the list of ales to free up the table - service here was a bit hit and miss as bar staff waited on tables to take orders but had no way of communicating it back to the bar so there were long delays whilst waiters walked around collecting orders, taking these to the bar to get fulfilled and eventually bringing trays laden with several orders out... there really needs to be some quicker ordering system, and each round had to be settled there and then rather than roll up a tab as we had when indoors. Nonetheless, was a great night out and I'd definitely return - there's quite a few meals that took my fancy.
The best pub we visited on our recent trip to Malvern. No problem to try some of the very good ales before I bought. A pint of Saltaire Cascade ale and a large glass Rioja for £11. The management put a large bowl of roast potatoes on the counter for customers to help themselves. Real fire and vintage memorabilia on the walls. Impressive outdoor space.
Special pub. Ended a walk here at 3pm on a Wednesday. Full of all sorts, locals, hikers, couples. 10-15 real ales on in excellent condition. Landlord was very friendly.
We stopped at this place on our way back from London and we were pleasantly surprised at the warm welcome we were given, promptly shown to our table and took our drinks order immediately. To be fair, this bit felt a little rushed as I hadn't had a change to see what ales they had... Anyway, no problem really. All meals came out quickly, hot and cooked nicely. Their cheeseburger was delicious, rather messy but delicious. I don't have a picture of it but their "white" chocolate fudge brownie that my wife ordered was questionable. It didn't look or taste anything like a brownie but tasted rather nice, whatever it was meant to be. Anyway, the pub was large, everything spaced out and every section appeared to attract different types of people. I don't know if that's what they were going for but everyone seemed to fit where they were sitting. That may sound strange but if you're ever passing through for lunch, I recommend this pub and take a look around, see if you notice it.
Always amazing Sunday Roast, Local delicious crafted beer, nice and helpful staff. See you soon again!
Fabulous pub. Friendly helpful staff and they allow dogs. We visited on a Saturday afternoon about 10 mins before they stopped serving food. They took our order at the bar and found us a table. One of the barmaids also brought a bowl of water for our two dogs. The food was delicious and well presented. Reasonable prices too. Didn't have a beer as we had to drive but they had a good selection and their soda and lime was perfect thank you. Highly recommended if your in Malvern with family and/or dogs.
A proper pub. Great range of draught beers, lagers, ciders and wines plus spirits. It was a Friday early evening when we last visited. It was nicely full with good lively atmosphere. All age groups Quirky in places with a good outside drinking area. We often call here when we visit Malvern and we are never disappointed.
