Have passed this building many times. It was a very dreary wet day and we popped in to escape a heavy downpour! The visit was amazing and a worthwhile educational experience. Great fun for kids as you are offered a workbook to complete. Kids get to strike their own coin. At end of tour many freebies for kids. Staff very helpful. Have your photo taken with ONE MILLOIN POUNDS! Worth a visit and all free.

Nice museum, and it's free -no need to pay to get in. Not extraordinary though. I reckon it is good for primary school children.

We visited the museum on the mound on a rainy day in Edinburgh. A free museum appealed to us as we knew we could entertain our 4 and 7 year old boys for a bit out of the weather but not worry if they got bored quickly. We had a great time there. The views from several of the windows were fab, despite the weather, and the signs encouraging the children to touch were very well received by our boys. They very much enjoyed the interactive aspects in a lot of the rooms, especially cracking the safe which rewarded them with a chocolate coin. Getting to stand with a million pounds was pretty cool too (even if it was cancelled notes!) It was a grwat way to spend part of the morning and the friendly staff made it a definite 5 stat from Us!

I suppose only a banker (I admit it!) would like this one and it's clearly made for popular admiration since it mostly deals with money and savings .... not a word about commercial loans, that I could see, only mortgages. Probably the most informative is the "heritage" display out front detailing the mostly forcible mergers as all its predecessors made bad loans and investments and were crushed.

A very good museum showing the history of money in Scotland tracing back to the beginnings of BoS and Halifax. Includes very good exhibits such as £1million note and £1million in £20 notes. Very educational for visitors of all ages.
