Went to buy a monster energy drink, I had ID but my friend who was also of age didn’t, so was refused. Fair enough as technically I could have been buying the drink for him and he had no ID, however the member of staff who served me was extremely rude, lacked basic manners such as even a hello or an apology, only staring into the screen whilst typing away. Avoid Morrisons, Sainsbury’s is much better. Shop also smelled like wee. Unsatisfied.
Honestly, this place has gone to the dogs. The recent refurb has left many people confused. The new layout is terrible, most of the staff seem too busy to help or are just rude. The cafê is disgusting and looks like it never gets cleaned. Honestly, if the car park wasn't convenient for most shoppers, I wouldn't be surprised to see this branch close. And at the rate their prices are rising, that may be soon. A truly god awful place, now.
The store was bad before and seems to have recently replaced the cheese, deli and bakery counters with new fridges that make it harder to find items.nnThe freezers are still terrible, these are apparently being updated over this month but considering it’s the peak of summer and most of the freezers are empty it’s really disappointing to turn up at this store with a select few things on a list and to basically leave the store with none of them since they either weren’t in stock or the part of the store that was supposed to have them is currently undergoing maintenance.nnOnly positive is the car park is now at least smooth, but looks like the entire store budget must have gone into that at the expense of the stock and range of options available within the actual store.
New layout is very random. The store looks like an unfinished building project. Cafe very under staffed. I feel for all the store staff who do not seem to be treated well by the company.
I cannot believe how this place has gone down hill. I regularly use Coalville which is a really great store - well run, well stocked and a pleasure to be in. I went to Swadlicote store today and it is like Beirut by comparison. Fridges out of order there is enough water on the floor to supply a village in Africa for a month, poorly stocked shelves, and above all - dirty. The Cafe is positively a health hazard. The table legs, chairs and surfaces have ingrained dirt. They clear the tables once a day but don't wipe them. There is food under the tables on the floors that they just walk by. It is like they just don't care anymore. There is regulalry no small trolleys so you have to walk back and get your own from the car park. Don't get me started on the toilets - they are like the one out of Trainspotting; I've had better experiences on the last day of Glastonbury. Shocking. A word of warning - you might benefit by using an off road vehicle to navigate the canyons in the car park. They ought to get the Management team from Coalville over to train the local managers and reinvigorate this store; alternatively - close it.
