Visited this afternoon for a drink and to soak up the history of this unique pub. Great service and terrific interaction with the staff. As visiting Australians we must thank Ant for the fascinating and informative quick tour of the tunnels underneath and some appropriate stories. This place is great and well worth a visit!
Visited this pub on the way to the Tate Britain Museum, which is only a five minute walk away. It's steeped in history connected to an old prison and spies. The upstairs dining room has views of MI6 and the Thames. I preferred to sit in the main bar downstairs as it was full of atmosphere, as it was a very busy aftetnoon. I was fortunate to get a table. The only letdown was the food. The chicken Leek pie had sold out so I opted for the bangers & crushed potatoes. The three sausages were fine, nothing special. The huge onion rings were crispy. The gravy was too thin. The new potatoes were so old I couldn't cut them. They had turned into dark rubber! I could have used them as plasticine! Thankfully there weren't too many of them. Other diners opted for small plates and I wish I had too. The chips, mac & cheese and brushetta looked much better than mine. The meal and one wine spritzer came to £25!
Lovely pub close to the Tate. We had lunch there - awesome Fish and chips and salad with makrel. Great beer selection. Nice outdoor seating. Great place to relax between events . Dietary restrictions: If you have restrictions they are prepared and have a folder for each dish that shows what is used and which allergies could be triggered ...real good
Went here for a family Sunday lunch. The staff couldn't have been nicer and Lucy even showed us the underground cells where prisoners were held before being sent to Australia see picture. We had the roast beef which was a generous portion with all the trimmings including great roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. The beer is Youngs with at least two guest ales and there was a nice selection of red wine too. It is worth wandering around the pub including the upstairs 'Spy Room' with pictures of infamous members of that profession and from where you can spy on the MI6 building across the river. Very convenient for Millbank, the Tate Gallery and parliament in this delightful part of London. Dietary restrictions: The menu had allergens marked and the staff were aware of our needs.
A great pub close to the river in a quiet residential area of Pimlico. Seating inside and outside and a private area to reserve upstairs. Good selection of drinks on tap and also food available. Great service. Usually busy in the evening with office crowd and so table booking is recommended if you want a seat. Very limited places to stand inside for groups more than three.
Nice pub within walking distance from The Westminster Hilton. Fish and Chips looked good. I had Sunday Roast and it was decent. Beer was nice and cold.Food: 5/5
We stopped in for a quick beer and went upstairs to the Spying Room. The pub is opposite MI6 which you can see from the windows. The theme of the pub is based on the four infamous Cambridge spies of the 1960s: Philby, Blunt, Maclean and Burgess. All very atmospheric - and the beer wasn't bad either!Service: 4/5
Unassuming pub in Millbank, very quiet and far from maddening crowds. It's Young's so good choice of drinks; didn't eat. Apparently, if you ask they can show you the prison cells underneath but didn't dare.Service: 4/5
A very welcoming place - beautiful inside and out! We both ordered the chestnut mushroom Wellington on their Sunday Roast menu and licked our plates clean! So delicious and earthy. Wish we had found Morpeth Arms at the beginning of our vacation. What a gem of a place. Thanks much to the lovely staff.Food: 5/5
Food was incredible. Warmed the soul! Crispy pie crust on the savoury meat pie and excellent steamed vegetables! It has a home cooked essence but with a much finer finished perfection. The entire meal was amazing! We will definitely return! My daughter is vegetarian. Her burger was also fantastic! She rarely completes her food but she devoured this dish. Excellent chef!
