Incredible, delicious and wonderful food made and prepared by an expert trained Chef Rafael, who masterfully mixes learnt cuisine skills from his youth. Carefully crafted meats and fish from providers hand-picked by the Chef, as well as vegetables stored in jars to be matured and used in elaborate home-made palate refreshing dishes. Similar with fruits, they are matured to be used in flavourful deserts. The menu listing changes each day, to fit various daily themes. The staff are super friendly and acquaint to your needs and desires. Definitely deserves to be Michelin starred
Booked here for a Sunday roast as we were staying round the corner from here and wanted to eat before leaving back home. I got to say we were not expecting a roast as good as this. I had the pork belly and my girlfriend had the beef and both were cooked to perfection accompanied by veg and a big Yorkshire pudding. The service was great, even bringing more gravy when not even asked. We were looked after by Lauren who was very attentive and did a great job making it a great experience. Would definitely visit again
My wife and I had to have a proper Sunday roast while we were in London and our nephew who lived here for 15 years said to go to the Jugged Hare, a great Gastro pub in the City of London. We were not disappointed by yet another brilliant recommendation. The atmosphere is hunting lodge fun, the staff were all friendly and despite our 730 reservation, they were still able to serve us our Sunday roast we whiled away the afternoon at the Tate’s Expressionist Exhibit. Candidly, our waitress Lauren made all the difference in our evening with her charming repartee, great advice, menu guidance and general good cheer. She expertly balanced supporting our dining experience while not being intrusive. They are really quite fortunate to have such a pro on their team. My Welsh Leg of Lamb was medium rare and tasty as was the excellent mint jelly and the Yorkshire pudding and gravy in my mind the whole point of a Sunday roast was superb. My wife opted for a perfectly prepared pan seared Cod Filet. We were both surprised by the side of really well prepared kale and the roast potatoes were also something to write home about - crispy on the outside and buttery smooth on the inside. My wife raved about the sticky toffee pudding. I can’t have dairy and to my delight and surprise they had and absolutely delicious dairy free cheese cake with a chocolate sorbet that was as good as any I have had. We would we go back - in a quick second - especially to try one of their specialty game dishes - though we might check to see if Lauren is working.
If it wasn't so expensive, I'd have given this restaurant 5 stars. Food was delicious. We had their house white wine at about £28, which was very drinkable. A burger was £28 which although fantastic to taste, I'd not come across a burger that expensive. Service was also incredibly attentive and friendly, but this restaurant asks you for service 12 or 13% and then the waitress asked each person individually if they would like to add a "tip which just goes to me". I'd have gladly given our waitress the while service but when you've paid £46 for a burger, a couple or glasses of wine and service, I feels that's enough. The taxidermy throughout the restaurant might put off some people, just as a heads up.
Absolutely delicious roast. Three of us all had a different one and everyone of us was delighted with how good it tasted and how well everything was cooked. Definitely recommend this place for a Sunday roast.Food: 5/5
Great place if expensive. It's a game menu, absolutely delicious and well presented. An interesting wine list too. Staff were engaging and professional. Chatty and friendly without being intrusive. Strong recommend.Food: 5/5
I had heard that Sunday roasts were traditional in England so found this place in an article about the best in London. They weren’t kidding. The staff was incredibly friendly, the place looked like a hunting lodge or game butcher shop with the animals hanging from the ceiling, and the food…. Wow the beef was perfect and my wife, who prefers well done, said it was still very tender. Thw vegetables were perfectly roasted and the potatoes were nicely browned. Then for dessert do NOT miss the sticky toffee. Amazing. You can’t go wrong here. I’m spreading the word. If you’re in London on Sunday head to the Jugged Hare!
Jugged Hare in London is a must-visit for any Sunday roast enthusiast. While we did have to wait for a table to become available, it was undoubtedly worth the anticipation. The Sunday roast we indulged in was nothing short of exceptional. The succulent, slow-cooked meat, perfectly complemented by the crispy Yorkshire pudding, roasted vegetables, and rich gravy, was a symphony of flavors that delighted our taste buds. The attentive service and cozy atmosphere added to the overall dining experience, making it a memorable Sunday afternoon. If you're seeking one of the finest Sunday roast dinners in London, Jugged Hare is the place to be. Be prepared to savor every bite and potentially wait for a table, as it's a testament to the restaurant's popularity and culinary prowess.
An impromptu trip to Barbican that ended up here for dinner and did not disappoint. Beautiful little old pub covered in taxidermy, friendly staff. Good spirits selection, looked the kinda place to have a great wine list though I didn't check. A little lacking of beer choices unfortunately but I'm guessing their tied and do the best they can under the circumstances. We only really went for a drink to wait out rush hour but after seeing venison tartare and snails on the bar menu, followed by brain on the full menu, we were sold to stay for dinner. Unfortunately they were out of the brain dish so we shared the sea snails, then the tartare before burgers but failed on the photo front for the burgers. All of it was incredible, arrived quickly and was well portioned. The tartare even being served in a bone which was a very memorable theatrical touch to the dish. My only criticism was the tartare had too much mustard on it, for my taste the mustard could quite happily be served on the side and the bigger issue, they refused to cook the burger any less than well done. Ideally I'll take burgers on the still mooing side of rare, of I trust the kitchen, but they said no. Which there are laws regarding on mince meat, except if you have any form or tartare on the menu, presumably you know what your doing, right? Why can one set of mince come out raw and the other must be cooked? Can only assume from prebatching the patties but when paying >£20 a burger somewhere with a clear bent for meat lovers, I'd like to think I can have my burger cooked to my satisfaction. Anyway, 5* nonetheless, I'd go 4.5 if I could but all my issues were pretty specific to my personal taste rather than issue issues, so I'll round up. Will definitely be back.
Visited the Jugged Hare with family for a special event. The interior was very homely, reminiscent of a West Country pub, with a large amount of taxidermy on display. The food was delicious, simple yet well executed - what I would hope for at a restaurant like this. I personally had the snails and the pie and enjoyed both with a beer. The only negative I would point out is it was unfortunately no real ale on tap, unless our server was mistaken.
