Great stay with the dogs in the suite. Room was very comfortable and large. Bathroom and shower were fabulous. We ate both dinner and breakfast at The Mill - both meals were outstanding. Staff friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.
Can't fault this wonderful pub restaurant and hotel with it's perfect setting on the river to it's great location for the city centre. Excellent selection of beers and the restaurant food was superb. The best part though is the consistently professional and friendly staff who have clearly been well trained. Have already recommended!!
My husband and I came for Christmas lunch and, I have to say, we were left a little disappointed with our food. The service and location were faultless, everyone was so friendly and welcoming and we got a free drink and fresh bread on arrival which was a very nice surprise!nnHowever, the mushroom ravioli was not quite what we expected. It was more of a watery soup with two quite stodgy pasta slices. Perhaps I misunderstood the menu but it was very bland and just not great sadly. The mains were much better, the beef wellington, however, was far too peppery it was rather overwhelming and I couldn’t finish it. It was also not really what I would class a beef wellington, it was more of a sirloin steak slice wrapped in pastry. Again, the meat and pastry were lovely, just too peppery and again not what I was expecting. Pudding was also quite disappointing unfortunately. My husband’s rice pudding was very dry and he mentioned the rice itself was still crunchy, but the taste itself wasn’t bad at all. My dark chocolate torte was very nice, my only complaint is that they forgot the vanilla ice cream that was mentioned on the menu, the richness of that pudding really needed the ice cream to accompany but still very nice. For £180 we definitely expected everything to be included!nnAs it was Christmas and the staff were so lovely and of course very busy we didn’t want to make a fuss and add any additional stress. We have visited Mill on the Exe numerous times and have always been very happy with the food and service so we will certainly be returning, just we’re having an off day I suppose!
Sophie was engaging, attentive and very sweet. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit.nWill frequent again soon. Well done!
Best Plated Roast in Exeter..... Maybe even Devon!nnMy family and I went to the Mill on the Exe for a Sunday roast.nnIt was a stormy weekend and we were sat overlooking the Wier. It was a lovely sight made all the better, by hands down the best plated Sunday roast dinner, we've all had. I had beef it was cooked to perfection - I don't tend to choose beef for a roast either as most places don't cook it well.nnThe staff were so welcoming and friendly and the service was brilliant. No long waiting times for our food either.
