Story

The Metro Garden Restaurant & Bar is one of Clapham’s best kept secrets. Quintessential al fresco dining can be experienced in the intimate fairly light-adorned Metro hidden garden, perfect for balmy summer nights.

Rocking a shabby chic interior, Metro Garden Restaurant London features flickering candlelight, oversized comfy sofas and a buzzing, vibrant bar. An ethereal feel is created against the bordering stained glass window backdrop of the idyllic St Mary’s Church and monastery.

Eclectic dishes on the Metro Garden menu include pecan and cashew crusted duck breast on creamed mash with kumquat jus or parmesan gnocchi with walnut pesto and fresh rocket. Homemade desserts include banoffee pie, white chocolate baked cheesecake and cinnamon pear and stem ginger pudding.

A hidden gem in Clapham that simply cannot be missed. A short walking distance from Clapham Common Station, is this quaint and well decorated venue with the most welcoming and attentive staff that engage and host an incredible meal. The menu is small however incredibly diverse with many options for both vegetarian and meat lovers to choose from. We had the Scallops and Crabcakes to start that were tasty and a good portion forgot to take a picture, that's how good and quickly we ate them. We finished off with the carvery which I did take a picture of, as this was presented beautifully with all the trimmings. They also continuously served us varieties of freshly baked bread corn, olive, mustard seed and wholegrains with butter and this was also an incredible touch and again well portioned. The Coffee was really good also so I've no doubt even to stop in and have a quick drink would be a real treat, but the main experience would be to have a nice sit down meal as we did. We didn't manage to book but if we did, we'd sit outside as the pictures online looked incredible and we arrived a moment after they opened and it had already been fully booked - this speaks volumes to me so we will be back! Kid-friendliness: Very friendly and warm place to eat for all the family.

We went there for a Sunday roast, and we were not disappointed. They have the usual options with chicken, lamb, beef and vegetarian. They are all very tasty and worth trying. The decor is interesting, with an old style fireplace/heating system. Just be aware they don't have a kids menu or a changing table. They do have high chairs though. Overall, very tasty Sunday roast in Clapham!
We had a wonderful Sunday Lunch here. On top of the food, drinks and setting being completely brilliant, we received some of the friendliest and warmest service we’ve ever had. Each member of staff seemed to read minds and anticipated our every need. This restaurant felt so welcoming and familiar - I’m sure it will soon become on of our regulars. Excited to see it in Summer!!
This has to be one of the best little gems in the area. Such a beautiful and cosey venue for a cocktail in the garden, a glass of wine by the fire or a romantic meal for three : The food is excellent, the new chef is really good and the rotating staff are always a pleasure to talk to. Even the music in here is perfect. Think I will have my next wedding in here, it's ideal!
A place full of fabulous. Never disappointed, great staff, delicious drinks, dining, both inside and out and of course, Fran, who ensures you have the best time with her team! Sunday Lunches are a must-go to.
Lovely outdoor area out the back, well away from the main road. There is a section completely undercover and an area out in the sunshine. Plenty of blankets provided and I think there were heaters. Beautifully decorated and plenty of attentive staff as well. Food options are slightly limited on a Sunday but that is to be expected!

One of my favorite SW restaurants. Beautiful in winter, all lit by candle and fairy lights with a real open fire, and in summer there's masses of garden or conservatory seating to enjoy alfresco. Food is lovely, staff extremely friendly, ambience superb. Went there recently for an evening of food with live opera, was an amazing evening. An absolute oasis of a restaurant.
Fab rustic venue full of character. Delicious vegan choices, fabulous service.
