We took the ferry trip which left at 3pm. We had originally booked the 1pm trip, however the wind was too strong at that time so it was pushed back. The ferry was lovely, very authentic and plenty of seating, with an onboard cafe and toilet facilities. Information is played throughout the trip to explain the sights and surroundings. Would recommend the ferry trip on a nice day.
Such a fun way to take in the sights of the city and learn more about its history. Listening to the history of trade in the port is really brought to life by being on a boat! The ferry itself is so fun to look at and it was a really special experience. The audio guide can be heard clearly throughout the saloons and outside. Access was easy, even though we boarded on quite a windy day!
The actual "ferry across the Mersey", although it was billed as a sightseeing cruise, it is just the regular ferry to Birkenhead with a loop tape commentary . It was a fun ride though, the round trip takes about 50 minutes. As other people have commented , the commentary is almost inaudible, particularly outside when it is windy.Visited onWeekdayWait time10–30 minReservation recommendedYes
So for the price the River Cruise isn’t over priced. Takes about 50 minutes, automated information on loud speaker system , didn’t see any staff after we sailed off from terminal. Didn’t use the conveniences so don’t know if clean or not. Bar / cafe was closed it was the 4pm sailing last of the day points of interest are pointed out all pretty obvious to be honest. A pleasant sail on a sunny day.
If you get a chance to sail on a Mersey Ferry, take it! These are fabulous little ferries, with lots of info inside about Thier history. These hardy little boats were part of D Day. The River Cruise is great, really good commentary full of useful info about what you see during the trip. Highly recommend.
Took my 6 year old grandson on his first ferry cruise. The guy on the ticket dispensing was brilliant gave my grandson a flag to wave the weather was brilliant river was calm and my grandson explored every part of the ferry The Royal IrisVisited onWeekendWait time10–30 minReservation recommendedNot sure
In Liverpool, staff are very welcoming, cheerful and helpful from ticket/info desk to on board ferry. Public toilet facilities very clean. Lots of staff help available to get up/down the ramp to on the ferry. On the Royal Iris, announcements and details of the trip can be clearly heard. Had an excellent day- and staff even remembered my dog Brian and I from a previous visit. Well done all involved- keep up your good work.
A great ride on the ferry. It was a perfect day for it. They described all the landmarks as you come up to them. Worth the money to go around the Mersey.
If it is your first time in Liverpool, this is definitely recommended On this particular trip, there was a group of school children, otherwise it’s not as noisy. You have a good view of the buildings and an audio recording played onboard guides you through the cruise. It’s 50min long and does get windy and cold so wear something warm! There’s seating inside and on the deck as well. Disabled access friendly Also, there’s only 1 ferry so it comes once every hour and you can ask the time from the front desk. They offer student discount as well and are very helpful. You can use a Walrus card on this but not bus tickets.
What an enjoyable 3 hours on your river cruise. Entertainment was excellent and the man giving running commentary was very knowledgeable. The cafe served good coffee and toilet facilities were clean. Top marks to the team. 10.15 sailing, 18 August 2024Visited onWeekendWait time10–30 minReservation recommendedNot sure
