My mum and I visited yesterday for brunch. It was quite busy, and there were quite a few options from the menu that were mot available.. we ordered drinks and eggs benedict for myself and eggs royale for my mum. We had a 15-minute wait, but it looked good when it arrived.. unfortunately, the hollandaise sauce was cold on both our dishes, the plus side was we were both very hungry and could eat it quickly! One of the apparently new waiters was spoken to by his senior, well within ear shot of myself and my mum, even though being given guidance, but it must have been a little embarrassing for the newer member of staff, as it was in front of customers, we felt this could of been handled a little more professionally, for the sake of the new member of staff, but it was very busy and they must have been under increased pressure! It wasn't a bad experience, we would visit again!
Normally, it's not too bad, but today Friday 22 March 2024. It was diabolical. My coffee was luke warm, cold by the time I had finished with it I left half. My chicken pot pie had no pastry top at all and was a pretty meagre helping. I did not complain, as we had already waited 25 minutes for the food to arrive. Our server asked if what she had brought was correct I mistakenly thought it was so I said yes. She said it was the first order, today that was!!! I was lunch time by then. Two coffees two snacks £21 - not good enough.
Truly awful. We waited 15 minutes for a coffee as only one person was taking the orders and then making the drinks. Tables had not been cleaned despite us being in there at opening time. So crumbs and food left on tables all night. Come on M&S, you can do better than this.
Cafe : visited m&S cafe at 16:30pm Saturday for dinner. Spent about 15 mins deciding what hot dinner meals to order from the card menus - for family of four while staff watched us holding the giant food menus and didn't say anything went to the till to be told the kitchen is closed in 30 mins so no food can be ordered??? But the store closes at 8pm?? Google says cafe open till 6pm. I suspect the staff wanted to home early. Waste of time. A lucky miss judging by other food reviews!!!
The latte was undrinkable, the staff were under pressure, with simple necessities like spoons, trays and knapkins unavailable. We waited and waited for the toasted tea cake. It hasnt arrived after 20 monutes and we left.12.35
