Maplin

The guys who work there might be slightly nerdy, but to their credit, they always bend over backwards to be very helpful, and the service is very good. I'd be very sad to see this store depart if in fact Maplin did close its doors. Yep some of the prices make your eyes water, but if you need things in a hurry these guys usually have something that fits, or in one case they shipped it in from another store the same day. I still buy from them all the time.

Prices are exceedingly high compared to online stores, and staff are less knowledgeable than they are enthusiastic!

Maplin is extremely expensive, I'm not sure if it's just not keeping up with e-commerce as a brick and mortar business, or it is relying on a share of the market that doesn't know any better. You can easily find yourself looking at an HDMI cable priced at over £20, unnecessarily. I buy packs of rechargeable batteries from them and that's it. There is no computer parts shop in Newbury for even the savvy hobbyist.

The online price was different from the one was displayed in the shop. But the staff was very polite and explained me the reason. 5 Stars for staff 4 for the issue.

The shop could do with being bigger but the staff are great. I would i given 5 stars if they could work out how to stop my wife from rushing me!
