I arrived at Manchester Piccadilly station and was impressed by its modern facilities and efficient layout. The staff at information desk and near the gate were helpful, and the bustling atmosphere gave me a sense of excitement for my visit to the city.
This station is well organised, modern, clean, and runs well. There are good facilities and helpful staff. My favourite thing about the station is how many dogs I see coming through with their humans. As well as the wonders of hearing folks playing the pianos. You know the place is good when there's things like this. Visitors to the NW - Beware of Northern trains running out of Piccadilly. As a local I can tell you they are NOT reliable.
Good size station with many facilities, shops, restaurants and cafes. Not that busy.
Very lovely train station! Large variety of trains from a trainspotter point of view and there is frequent services to a variety of stations. A large variety of operators call here including Transpennine express, Transport for wales, Avanti west coast, Northern, East Midlands Railway and Cross Country. There are no ticket barriers present but revenue protection are on hand. There is also a variety of places to grab a bite to eat and shops within the station. The station also functions as a primary location for the British Transport Police so a variety of cars and vans can be seen here - perfect for Emergancy Vehicle Enthusiasts. There are also frequent tram links to a variety of places around Manchester which is amazing!
Quite a busy station, plenty of facilities and overall impressive building with everything you could want in one place... Only drawback are the total jobs worth ticket inspectors stationed across all the platforms. I've had several interactions with these goons, they are all the same with their hand held scanners.... It's so slow and arduous getting your tickets checked here so allow extra time as and when you can! I've also heard how they spoke to a gentleman who dared to enter a platform via the 'no entry's gates which leads onto the platform anyway - seriously just install barriers like any normal station???
Ok train station, got some decent food and drink outlets but not much seating. Toilets are quite clean but not many of them, so can be long queues at peak times. Some of the platforms are also quite far away so makes changes quite stressful in a journey when going from platform 1 to platform 14, for example.
I love railway station. I love the buzz and the hype. People going, people coming. I could sit and watch them all day long, but now it's time for me to board.
As usual. Free. City bus is wonderful to enjoy the city view.
First time visiting the railway station it is very big. However very easy to navigate around the station with easy to connect with the trams and the free buses. The station is very clean to including the toilets also the staff was friendly too.
I've been travelling through Manchester Piccadilly since the mid 1990s and feels like one of the best stations that I've ever travelled through. Within easy walking distance of central Manchester and connections beyond. Feels so much cleaner and safer than any of the London mainline stations.
