Came here for the Davis Cup tennis. Had really good seats near the front and it looked like most seats in the arena would give a good view. Access is good via the station. Facilities are also good. Plenty of toilets and unusually no big queues for the ladies. No hand towels or driers available one hour into the event. Good food and drink concessions and the suites looked great.
Went here for a concert. Was in Block 113 row X. Mad uncomfortable seating. Very tiny and uncomfortably steep. Everyone had to stand up in the row if someone wanted to leave their seat. And when you stood up, it felt like you were going to fall to your death. The stairs were so small and steeple angled with no hand rails to hold onto. One wrong move and you'd be tumbling until you hit the ground floor. Toilets were ample and clean. Lots of expensive as expected options for food and drink. Nachos, hot dogs etc... Nothing fancy. Fairly easy entrance and exiting.
Went for the Davis cup. Seats are padded but they’re still fairly uncomfortable. Seats at the ends of the courts are much better though. Food was a disgrace. Paid £14 for some chicken poke bowl thing. There were 4 small pieces of chicken and loads of veg. Horrendous for the price. And a sandwich was £6.50 for a basic beef filling. My advice would be to eat beforehand as the food is not only overpriced but very underwhelming and not filling. The actual tennis was brilliant though and the music/ atmosphere was very good.
It’s great to have a venue in Manchester which attracts great stars and eventsnIt’s got good features and bad. It amazes me that at every venue, including this one, queuing for food is always like a scrum. Long queues and expensive food and drink and because you’re not permitted to BYO, even if you want water, you’ve got to pay through the nose for a weeny bottle.nThe seats are comfortable and mostly you get a good view of the stage. But the seats are banked so steeply that if you’re a little bit unsure of your footing, and a walking stick or crutches, you literally put your life at risk to get to your seat.nNo bannisters down the stairs. A central one would benefit in several ways.nThe acoustics are good, whatever the act, it’s got the equipment for great light shows
Medium size arena. There were an army of people working outside the arena giving directions to the venue, they have parking inside from £3.50 per hour. The place has a lot of toilets they were all very clean I was very impressed. The food inside is expensive a bag of sweets £6, wine can be up to £40 per bottle coffee is £4 or £3.50 that was ok you can pay with card only. They have some security measures don’t bring big large items, recommend maximum size A5 bag if you bring large items there is not lockers in there to store them. The arena is near by the main Victoria Manchester train station, 15 mins walking distance from the high street, 5 mins from Manchester cathedral.
