Transit flights cannot be connected to straight away. Rerun through security would not accept sealed liquid bottles in transparent plastic from previous airport on their own tray. Whole group got extra 30 min delay because of this and almost missed connecting flight.
Still issues with baggage reclaim. Not enough baggage handers. I had to wait an hour for my luggage at a fairly quiet time. Also my plane from Copenhagen to Manchester arrived at Copenhagen half an hour late because they were short of baggage handlers to load the cases before leaving Manchester, resulting in my flight leaving late on the return from Copenhagen.
No ground staff available to aid the plane to our gate, then the baggage took 45 minutes to get the carousel... Surely they know when the plane is due to land?! It was only 6pm, so not late. From when we landed to getting through customs was over an hour! Not a good experience at all! Lack of staff but also the staff that were there just had no oomph about them and didn't seem to care that a handful of people still didn't have their luggage after 40 minutes when nearly everybody else had left. More staff needed clearly. And please stop blaming covid!
The #6 placement on the list of world’s worst airports was earned, not given to Manchester. This place is a dirty, run down maze just to get through a snails crawl at security. The agents were openly lying to people saying that any bag needed to be searched would be a 40-45 minute; I saw 3-5 minutes. This airport is the best example I’ve seen of the tyranny of bureaucracy.
Terminal 2 has such a poor selection of places to have a drink or 2 pre-flight. There is an Italian restaurant for food and then a pub restaurant type place next door where you can get drinks but it was a ridiculous queue to get in to here. Would be great to have a couple of nice bars in T2 to visit. And when going through arrivals when we landed back the baggage didn't come out on to the convenor for over 2 hours! I understand these things happen but the bigger issue for me was why we were not kept up to date or informed of the delay - People were even starting to stick their head though the conveyor flaps to shout through to the guys in the back asking what's happening. Very poor communication.
Useless and incompetent. Canceled our flight because of snow. Left us on the plane for 5 hours. But let other flights leave. Only canceled ours to make space for others. No one knew what do with our flight. Staff were rude and not helpful.
Yet again the moving walkway is not moving. Either you are trying to save money or your engineers are inept. Sort it out!!! Security is a joke. Boarding gates all over the place at terminal 3. The worst airport I've ever had the misfortune to travel to/from out of around 300 airports worldwide!
It's ridiculous. They make you queue outside in the drop-off area before going through Security.
Decent train station that gets you from Point A to B and has an OK shop. It’s a bit comparable to Oxford Road in Mancs proper. I’m giving a two-star review because of an event I witnessed where a man was clearly in mental distress and upset. Rather than trying to calm the man down, the station staff seemed to try and escalate the situation and upset him further. I know that working for network rail can entail a lot of abuse, but de-escalation is key. There may also have been a racial component as the station staff in question were white and the man in distress was Black, but that may have also been unrelated.
The station is ok, it's a long walk without working conveyor belts to any terminal. From terminal 2 it's at least 10 minute walk it you want to catch a train. But apparently there's a 3h delay scheme from Transpennine Express.
