Stayed there for one night, really lovely vibe and decor, they clearly like to play up their theme. As a hotel, your mileage may vary. It is a pub foremost so it was noisy downstairs until about half eleven at night. The rooms are not en suite, my single room didn't even have a sink. The shared bathrooms were modern and perfectly clean, but those who want their private toilet space should probably consider elsewhere. That said, visit and have a meal there, the pies are excellent and their own craft beer was exceptional.
Today was our first visit, and oh my word it didn't fail. You won't leave feeling hungry the portions are big and the food is extremely tasty. We had the sharing starter, steak and kidney pudding and the posh & becks. We wanted to have a pudding but couldn't finish the main course, but shared the apple pie . The staff are so friendly and the building just adds to the dining experience. If you've never been you really must give it a try you most certainly won't be disappointed.
Been meaning to come here for years, finally made it. Wonderful food, excellent choice of drinks, great atmosphere and will be back most definitely. Steak and Kidney pie was delicious and some of the best chips I've ever had. Couldn't manage desert, but was looking enviously at the sticky toffee pudding going to other tables. Another reason as if I needed one to return
quality food and lots of it... not everything was available on the menu but what was available was very good. Staff super quick to your table and the drinks selection is great. Pints are served in the old glass pint pots. Very enjoyable and very reasonable for authentic back country food.
Paid a visit today at lunch time, 5 of us in the group, I had minted lamb, amazing, plenty of gravy, and meat, comes with the most amazing home made chips. Two of the group had Burges, both very happy, my mate said so nice to have a proper thick great tasting burger. Only down side was chicken pie, two much sauce not enough meat, but still tasted OK. For sweet the warm apple pie with custard was brilliant, so a great visit, service was first class.
I enjoyed my visit. The pub is decked out to look old and old fashioned. On first look I didn't know how I felt about it but it has a really good atmosphere. The staff are so kind and helpful nothing to much trouble. You do need to book a table has it does get really busy. Monday night was full.
The food was fantastic and the waitresses were brilliant! I had the Tyson Fury and it was beautiful, and my fiancé had the Andy Murray - there was so much meat in both of our pies! Will definitely be returning. Special thanks to our waitress Laura who was so friendly and helpful!
Usually very good food and service. Don't know if it was just a busy Saturday night but food was rubbish. Had the chicken and mushroom pie and was basically boiled chicken in dishwater. Every normal pie I've ever had here has been fantastic though so steer clear from that oneRooms: 3/5
Almost a traditional pub, sawdust on the floor, aged seating and tables and a good atmosphere. Then, they serve your food, WOW, I am a 60 year old with a good appetite ordered the warm bam lamb pie and have to say it was the best pie I have ever eaten. My wife had the Tyson Fury and said the same of hers. Will definitely be going back.
Great food , great staff. Don't need to say anymore. However, the pies really are special. Can't go without mentioning them. Old fashioned surroundings make for a great experience. Not the cheapest but worth every penny. Nearby activities: Black Country Museum and Dudley Zoo .
