Bed, room and food were all good quality, the room was a bit dated in appearance and with only a single electric heater for the winter but the bed was very comfortable and facilities were fine. The showers were very spotty - temperature fluctuated a lot while trying to use it which made having a shower not the best experience. There was a switch on the wall for a TV speaker in the bathroom but it appeared to be non-functional (that said it's not something we were planning on using anyway) Other than the shower my only (minor) complaint would be that after forgetting to pack some there was no toothpaste available from the front desk or in the room, although when we asked about it we were informed that a delivery hadn't been made that week. Hardly the end of the world but it's not what I'm used to from a 4* or better, but the person we spoke to did do his best to try and help us. We had booked a room inclusive of a three course meal - when we enquired about our options we were briefly told by a member of staff that this meant we had £25 per person to spend on the main menu. After ordering and while eating our dinner we then overheard a different member of staff informing another pair of guests that it was either £25 or a choice from their 3-course menu - an option we'd avoided as we hadn't been told it was one. Some members of staff were excellent and helpful but others appeared either uninterested or possibly over worked as there did seem to be a slight lack of people about - but this may simply be due to the time of year we stayed. Overall it's a good hotel but given the prices being charged and the level of service and facilities in the rooms it's not amazing - unfortunately we didn't have the time to try the spa facilities so I'm unable to comment on them. Fixing the showers and some of the other minor niggles would make a world of difference.

Pretty good stay here. Hotel staff were all very nice and helpful. Used the spa facilities which were ok and had a decent relax. Room was ok, a little dated but fine for a 1 night stay. Food was good although service could of been quicker at times. Really nice quiet and secluded location.

A good hotel that serves good food. I never had chance to try the pool or gym but the room was clean. Breakfast is also good and served from 7. They've always been quick with breakfast when I have stayed. Don't have dinner there, the food is ok but the service is painfully slow. I turned up at 18:55 to an almost empty restaurant and told they didn't have anything till 19:15. I came back and ordered my drink at 19:15 which took 25 mins to arrive and I finally got to order my meal at 19:40. It didn't arrive till 20:15. If I was told at 18:55 that it was going to be well over an hour I'd have gone elsewhere. It's easy to get to Cheshire oaks and Chester from there so I'd advise going somewhere else.

We visited for a spa day. Got an excellent deal with use of the spa, 2 treatments .robe and slippersand a cream tea. This place is lovely inside with all areas beautifully appointed. The relaxation rooms for before and after treatments are tranquil and calming and got us in a really relaxed frame of mind. A real escape from the stresses of everyday life. The staff are so lovely but professional and this helped to add to the feeling of being special and having a real treat. I had a facial and a back massage . I have been to lots of spas before but this was the best massage I've ever had!! Ssssssooooooo relaxing!! The thermal suite was great with foot spa, saunas and steam room. Loved the ice machine ....a great addition. The cream tea which we chose to have at lunchtime was delicious and fresh with tasty sandwiches and cakes. This is a great way to spend a day!!!
