Boy can this place do pies!! The fillings are stunning, and cooked to perfection. No soggy bottoms in sight! Very traditionally presented, on a lawyered plate, with choice of mash, peas, braised cabbage, gravy etc. I had steak, ale and mushroom and it was astounding. I went back again the same week! Can be taken away either hit or cold too. I took away a special Christmassy apple and mincemeat pie, which was perfect after about 20 mins in the oven at home. Highly recommended!!
I've given it 5 stars as I used to buy the pies from the Stockport cafe. Always good. Last Sunday I was looking for the cafe in Macclesfield but it is no longer there. There is a delivery service online now. I do hope Oliver the chef is alright.
Great pies. The mash and gravy were average, and it is a little pricey at £6 for the 3. The beef and blue cheese pie was absolutely delicious though, so it makes a nice treat, and it’s good to support local, independent businesses.
There is always a wide selection of different pies available to try. While I can't say I've tried them all, I've certainly tried a fair few of them. The pies are always lovely REALLY lovely but I find the mash potato to be a dry, presumably because they make it in large batches and then reheat. Apart from that one minor criticism, this place is great!
Very nice pies. Had the special vegan one and pork and black pudding, both tasty. This was a takeaway, but you can also sit down and have mash and gravy etc. with your pie.
Just perfect when you are really hungry and want some comfort food. No nonsense massive pie!
Premium pies, nice guys. Tasty premium pies, had a mix up and was given the wrong pie, went back and got it swapped with no complaint, i'd even eaten half of it, whoops. They are a little expensive but it's a nice treat every now and then instead of poundbakery to support a local business. Not the best pies I've ever had but still damn good.
Mmmmm gorgeously made fresh pies. Fantastic menu. Recommend the Stockport pie. Service is quick and friendly. Some may think it's a bit pricey but make up your own minds and I'm sure you will go back again.
Didn't think I was a pie person but popped in for a takeaway because of the good reviews I'd read. Had the Stockport Pie and Pork and Bury Black on different days! - both delicious. Will be returning to sample the rest over the next few weeks. A born again Pie Person.
Well lots of people at work have mentioned this place so I thought I would give it a go, overall it fell far short of expectation, I went for takeaway and the pie's are reheated and not piping hot peas and gravy are fine but I was missing ale from my steak and ale pie, I also bought a chicken balti pie and this had more tomato and carrot than anything else in the pie and again lacked the taste of a balti. Overall I wasn't impressed with the pie's that had come with so many recommendations and at £3.50 a pie there is better out there.
