Terrible delivery service. They profess their card machine is always broken and as such can only accept cash on delivery,though as a restaurant I find that hard to believe. Waited for 2 hours and no delivery. Couldn't contact them to see what was going on as permanently engaged/had taken the phone off the hook! Awful
We decided to go down to Southampton last weekend to meet up with some relatives. After a great day out to Southborne beach and driving around New Forest, we got back to Southampton with an idea for a good Chineese meal. So I parked up on the sea front, and called up all the chineese restaurants that came up on google, thanks to my iphone. They informed me that they all served buffet dinners, costing between 14 to 16 pounds per person. We decided to go to the nearest one in the city centre, and to our dismay found out that in Southampton, a buffet meant - one can order whatever on the menu and it will be prepared and served. But there are no desserts on the buffet menu. I was dissappointed,and moved form one restaurant to the other in the city centre, only to find that the situation was the same at all chineese restaurants. This was a saturday night, and I cant imagine it to be otherwise on other days. So finally, I decided to drive to Little Buddha, which is a restarurant in Shirley, a few miles from the city centre, and since it had good reviews on google, and it was the priciest, I was hoping it would be better. Unfortunately, I was wrong. It was once again the same story, but since we were too tired and hungry, we decided to eat. One could order what ever one wanted from the menu, but only 2 dishes at a time per person.... and if you were to waste food, you would be charged. Fair enough, I thought, me not being one to waste food. I was in for a nightmare. The food was so bad that there were several dishes that were inedible. The dishes that stay in memmory are salt and pepper squid.... with no salt or pepper, and a deep fried Tofu dish... the tofu was like a sponge soaked in oil, and completely tasteless. At the risk of having to pay extra, we decided that we would not eat anymore. The bill was about £75 for four of us with one drink each. I am searching for something good to say about this place, but I cant. I can say one thing for sure.. that Southampton is the worst place I have ever been for chineese food. This impression may have a lot to do with the fact that I have lived mostly in Birmingham and London, and I wonder if I have set my standards too high. On second thoughts, no I have not. To everyone who has given glowing reviews to Little Buddha, I say you have not visited proper Chineese buffet restaurants. But as one reviewer says, possibly the best in Shirley. Finally, I dont know if this review will make any difference. Afterall, I went to Little Buddha after reading google reviews!!
We have used the little buddha for some years now and have seen it decline in food and service. The takeawys look and taste like there all done in the microwavean and cooked in old oil. Eating in the staff are not welcoming and poor as servers, Its a shame because once it was a great place to eat. WE WOULD NOT USE AGAIN OR RECOMMEND!
Excellent service, very nice food and very pleasant and attentive host. Looking forward to our next meal there. Would definitely recommend.
They refurbish the restaurant early on this year and yes they still doing all you can eat menu buffet and ar la cart as well if any inquiry just give them a ring
Was once great but has fallen into decline in recent times. Food tastes cheap with little care taken in its cooking. Dry duck is pretty unacceptable.
absolutely awful!! waited 2 hours for my order to be delivered. ended up cancelling my order as it took far to long to arrive. also received awful customer service - really unbothered that it had been 2 hours and my food still hadn't been delivered!
Excellent food, the buffet a la carte prices are very reasonable & the food is amazing. Fully recommended to anyone in the local area.
A brilliant chinese right in the heart of Shirley. With polite staff, quick service and a friendly atmosphere, it's always a reliable choice if I fancy a sit down chinese meal.
Shocking customer service, waited 80 minutes for order to be delivered completely wrong and then asked.to wait another hour, cancelled order as they did not seem to care as they were too busy. Really bad customer service, won't be using them again
