My experience with Hong Kong Chef in Southampton was incredibly disappointing. While staying at the Holiday Inn Express, I ordered food for delivery to my room via Uber Eats. However, when the delivery was delayed, I contacted the store and was informed by the driver that he had left the food at reception instead of bringing it to my room as requested. To add to the confusion, when I checked with the hotel reception, they mentioned that they had never received any delivery for me. Furthermore, the delivery driver claimed that he couldn't call me due to my phone supposedly not accepting international calls, which was puzzling since I had no issues placing the order in the first place. Even the hotel receptionist tried to intervene by calling the store on my behalf, but they were allegedly hung up on several times. This entire experience was frustrating and inconvenient, especially when I was expecting a hassle-free meal delivery to my room. I never received my order. I sincerely hope that Hong Kong Chef takes immediate steps to address these communication and delivery issues to provide a better service to their customers in the future.
Very poor food, the fried rice was stodgy and was more like boiled rice, I've seen more colour in a white washed wall, the sweet and sour chicken balls again was stodgy and the sweet and sour sauce had a really strange after taste. For the little I ate I wanted to throw it up, on the plus side the bin enjoyed it!Food: 1/5
Can't get hold of them on the phone. Order not placed waited 2 and half hours then had to order again. Tried to get hold of them 30 times. When food finally arrived it was like warm. Pork balls were chewy and tasteless. The mini spring rolls were like eating pastry only. Extremely disappointed.Food: 1/5
Absolutely awful food and followed with a disgusting attitude! I had a takeaway and it was so bad I took it back and they refused to refund me ..! Although they asked me to to take it back for a refund ! The place needs shutting down it's so filthy and poor ! Do not recommend this to anyone!
Quite disappointed tonight. Was so looking forward to my King Prawn dish which unfortunately was over cooked and chips and what should have been barbecue sauce but it was curry sauce. Needed something sweet and was so looking forward to it. Hong Kong Chef is normally spot on but sorry not tonight. Quite upset lady who delivered was very nice.

The food here is fantastic. However, We were a regular customer of the Hong Kong chef and had stopped for a little while due to the food not being up to usual standard. It made us very sad. We ordered last night, Friday 6 April and it was back to being amazing. The salt and pepper prawns are the best. This is truly the best chinese. I don't usually do reviews but we were so happy last night I felt I should say something. So good to have you back to food being spot on. Thank you
Ordered from here for the first time today through just eat Food arrived earlier than the app said it would, was still piping hot and was one of the nicest Chinese takeaways I’ve had in a long time. Delivery driver was friendly too. Will be ordering again soon
