What a lovely quiet, secure site. That is kept very clean and well maintained. Just a very short drive from the beach and the seaside town of Sutton on Sea. The staff on site and at the main office have always been very helpful.
My mates were in a tent and I was in my camper on this mainly static caravan park which was fine except for the silly rules about a gazebo not being allowed next to my van... it had to be a proper awning that's attached to the vehicle. I cannot afford one so we cooked in the open air. Thank goodness it didn't rain! There's not one view in the camping area other than a fence and the backside of static vans which is a shame. There's one Shower and two toilets in the female block and when we arrived approx 17:00 there was toothpaste all over the sink area which is a clear indicator of how often checks and cleaning happens. The £10 security deposit wasn't highlighted in the subject of the confirmation email so when I turned up without cash the man who greeted us very politely repeated 3 times that it was stated in the email but let me in and took my £10 from my mates that followed an hour later because they dont take card payments. The most ridiculous set up for wifi... if you lose the tiny piece of paper with the password on you are charged £30! I put it in the glove box until I left and didn't even need it. And lastly, I think it would be good if they promoted the recycling bins on the website or on check in just to make sure everyone is aware from the off.
Arrived to camp for the bank holiday weekend to have a quiet one with my husband for our anniversary and unfortunately, we did not have the best of experiences. Upon arrival, straight away once seeing our camper van the warden said “you do have a proper awning don’t you as some people have tried to put up tents before with those vans” so we explained our awning connected to the van. He advised that this was ok. We got set up with our camper and glawning and were within pitch limitations. However, things went south when another camper who was part of a party of 2 pitches arrived later that evening and queried their pitch size due to them being worried about being able to reach the EHU point with the warden. This prompted the warden to come over and tell us that our awning was not an awning and therefore couldn’t remain erected… We queried how our awning did not qualify as an awning and he said it was because it wasn’t connected to the van. We shown the warden photos of the awning connector and explained we just hadn’t put the connector on by that point as we had the doors open to cool the awning and van down ready for the dog to sleep comfortably. After seeing the photos of how it would be connected, he agreed that it was an awning. But then immediately said that it was too big and didn’t fit within their 3.5meter awning rule. However, this rule was not published via pitchup where we had booked. The warden called his manager, who spoke with myself on the phone. He told us we had to take the awning down that evening after only being up for an hour… I explained that there must be an admin error on pitchup as the rule wasn’t listed under any section or terms and conditions of booking, but we did fit within the pitch and explained that if we took it down, due to the size of it rolled up, along with the pole bag, we wouldn’t have any space in the camper to pull our bed down and sleep and our dog also wouldn’t fit in with us due to the limited space this would cause. The manager did not care about the implications this would have on us and was unwilling to admit this error, show any compassion or give any grace. Instead he repeatedly told me to take the “wigwam thing” down and leave the site. I explained we couldn’t leave the site as we had both had a couple of beers and it would therefore be illegal for us to drive. To which he said “take the wigwam down tonight and you can get off in the morning”. The next morning, we had packed up and headed to the office for our refund. We again spoke to the manager, who this time acknowledged the error with the listing on pitchup and apologised. If the manager had customer service skills, this could have very easily been resolved. It would have caused no bother to admit the error and work with us to find a reasonable solution. All pitches were already pitched up next to us prior to our awning being dismantled. I fail to understand how we were not allowed a 4m awning and 1.9meter wide t5 campervan on our pitch but caravan owners were allowed range rovers / people carriers, large caravans, an awning and a garden type area with bbqs, windbreaks, clothing lines etc. In the future, maybe just state no campervans allowed as I truly believe that the site is yet another caravan oriented site who do not appreciate campervans. The positives were - the location was very close to Sutton on sea and it was a small, quiet site with a small play area near the camping pitches which is nice if you have children. Negatives aside from the above - one shower in the blocks which ran from boiling to freezing. Only allocated one shower / toilet fob which means we had to take turns and wait for the other to be finished. Smaller than average pitches.
Lovely well kept site, dog friendly and with clean shower and toilet block. The shower is standard electric type, but was perfectly ok. Location is great for the coast, just 5 minutes from fantastic beaches and not too far from several pubs where you can choose what you fancy for the evening.
Brilliant site for all the family. Great facilities and a groundsman who is the most friendly, efficient and helpful person we have ever met. You can't go wrong with this place. A comfortable and relaxing stay with fishing and swimming in with the price. We love it this is our 2nd season here and I am sure you will too. Happy Camping Everyone!
Nice setting by a beautiful lake with many species of birds to spot. Site is well maintained but a full circular lakeside walk would be a bonus. No bar or club room on site. I understand it has sister sites nearby residents can use.
I only use it for fishing excellent lake fully stocked with all types of fish pay by the day
Went there simply for a trial as we go to many sites, fell totally in love and ended up spending a small fortune on a static caravan there so shows how much we thought of the place ! Site warden is a great man, very hard working makes the site slick and span and is always happy to help, main office in Sutton springs where the staff are very good. Very peaceful, a short distance from the sea with gorgeous coastline, and Sutton on sea has everything you need, a delightful pick english seaside town - dog friendly site, the toilet block washing facilities etc are spotless. Looking forwards to MANY holidays there now
Beautiful clean tidy park. Very peaceful and relaxing.
Very quiet relaxing site only about 50 caravans. No shop, pub, play area. This site is for relaxing and recharging. This site has a well stocked fishing lake which is free to use for park guests on a catch and release policy.
