Had dinner there Tuesday evening as we was staying in the attached hotel, the food was good and the gentleman that served us was great but he did forget our onion rings we added to the order didn't get charged. We placed our order but had to change it, they had no sirloin steak and no sticky toffee pudding, just happened to be what we wanted at that time, service was fairly slow to be honest and the restaurant was pretty quiet. Over all the food was good and the service staff were polite
I’m not usually one to complain, but after our experience here I had to leave a review to warn others. During our stay in edinburgh we wanted a Christmas roast dinner and so travelled out of the city where we were staying to this restaurant. Unfortunately, it was one of the worst dining experiences of our life. We were immediately greeted with hostility by the manager Martin… more on him later informing us that he had a table of 25 in and so our food may take a while despite us pre-booking. While the food was adequate, the service was absolutely shocking. Our waitress didn’t catch her name couldn’t be less interested and everything seemed a chore to her. Martin was extremely rude on many occasions. We were often left waiting for something plates to be cleared / the bill and he would be standing behind the bar on his phone drinking a chocolate milkshake that the waitress had made him. We felt extremely uncomfortable when hearing him speak to the table beside us in a horrible manner. The table of 25 came with many many children who, instead of staying in their area, decided to run around and play hide and seek around our table, making us very frustrated and uncomfortable, with the restaurant staff not battering an eye lid. Whilst we were eating, another waitress was clearing a table next to us when she loudly burped, not covering her mouth… Finally, there was a poster on our table telling us if we signed up to the loyalty scheme and showed our registration, we would get 25% off today’s bill. This did not happen. The rude waitress insisted the till “wouldn’t let her” because we had a Christmas meal, which was NOT stated on the misleading poster. Save your troubles and go somewhere else.
Cocktail and dessert are interesting and satisfying. Salmon and pastry are great but the side veg is bit plain and boring could use some glazing with oil or butter I suppose. Free parking on site. Website booking are straightforward and easy. Not crowded for lunch. Overall it is quite pleasant experience, especially with the December promotions I received. 2 courses from £17.95 Santa Clausmopolitan £5 Smirnoff Red Vodka, Cointreau, lime juice and cranberry with a festive twist Salmon En Croûte** Salmon in a creamy cheese and spinach sauce encased in puff pastry, served with Tenderstem® broccoli, peas, boiled potatoes and a jug of mornay sauce Cherry Chocolate Melting Dome§†† v An indulgent dark Belgian chocolate dome filled with a dark cherry compote and Baileys™ ice cream. Served on a bed of golden oat crumble and a jug of warm custard
Great place to dine in and very relaxing. Food was amazing, big shout out to the kitchen staff. All staff were very welcoming, gave us a great experience. Will definitely be back
Very very poor if I could give 0 I would. We were staying at the adjoining Premiier Inn. Early evening approx 17.30. Restaurant was almost empty. Don't be fooled I wish I had taken photos of the food and recorded the staff. Careful of the surcharges. Just don't go there!! How does a well done steak still have blood in it. To much wrong to list. £56 for 3 set menus and £28 on drinks this was our first night of four never again. Looking for somewhere else local
What a great experience at this venue. All Made really special by one young lady server called Erin. She made every evening with a great smile and excellent customer relations and service. I don't think she would have done anymore for us and her recommendation for where to go and see what's around. A thank you to all the staff who have served us over the weekend.
Absolutely awful, booked beefeater for our Christmas day meal thinking it's a reputable chain, how wrong were we! Wish I'd taken pics as it was a joke. Our starters were bought out literally as we sat down, it was clear the dishes had been sitting there a while due to the delay in us getting our table. The soup was in the bread bun - like a bowl but all soggy and cold, the children's starter was a joke, this had been advertised as a Christmas tree garlic bread- all it was was a triangle piece upside down, with a little square cut out and placed at the bottom. The mains were not any better, the traditional roast dinner was dry, parsnips burnt and the potatoes must have been frozen, it was so awful I sent it back and had to cancel my order. The kids burgers were dried out. And well the beef Wellington was just a pastry with the meat piled on top and overcooked. We finally received our drinks order as we were towards the end of sorting out our dinner fiasco! A really big disappointment, it was so bad we didn't bother staying for deserts, the kids were so upset and hungry! Avoid if you can!
Went for dinner with my 5 years old grandson, he had the child's 3 course deal, I had a mixed grill. Was sat at a table quickly by the girl with one arm tattooed, I think she may have had the other one tattooed at some time but obviously it had come off with the amount of times she wiped her running nose on her arm and hand, my food was over expensive for what it was, my grandsons pizza was just tasteless, although he ate the dessert no problem! So out goes the tattooed lady for a cigarette, comes back straight behind the bar, sneezes into the back of her hand and carries on working, no sign of washing hers hands, a total put off and staff training is definitely a must here, we were stopping at the adjoining hotel and had booked breakfast, which started off great, plenty of cereals and fruit to choose from, I ordered the cooked breakfast, which after 50 minutes never showed up so we left, went again the next morning and was met with an apology for the previous day, accepted, on the whole a bad experience but the breakfast staff were helpful enough and pleasant, keep away from the restaurant after breakfast time until the staff have had at least basic hygiene training!!!
Dinner was not great. My steak was very fatty, hard gristle, food was tasteless. I would not recommend this place at all. Service was less than adequate. We had to flag down our server just to get another drink. Very disappointing experience. Parking: Very tight parking, Huge dumpster in parking area
I think they may have been short-staffed on our last visit. Otherwise, 10/10, a slight delay on the second round of drinksFood: 5/5
