Booked a new year trip for 5 nights. There is still work going on but main areas complete. Our standard pitch was generous and the site will have a lovely feel come the spring when everything settles down and the trees come into leaf. At night there were tawny owls calling which was a delight. The new facilities are faultless with copious hot water for showers and no push buttons! The underfloor heating makes for a pleasant environment and the local photography on the walls should be adopted on other sites together with the divided blocks which means they are always partially open even during cleaning. We really appreciated the new dog and bike wash after our muddy rides. There is much to explore in the area as well as the castle on the doorstep. Whilst small, Chirk offers all you need- a fantastic butcher, baker and greengrocer. The local fish and chips were also excellent. There was a warm welcome from the wardens and New Year drinks and nibbles were a nice gesture. Sadly you can’t organise the weather which means we will just have to come back again! This site is gem.
A lovely campsite with the new style CaMC shower block featuring wall art of local views and designed with dual clean sections meaning not having 'closed for cleaning' periods. Lots of walks and interesting features to explore nearby. Best thing of all was going outside at night to look at the lights twinkling through the snow covered trees, feeling as though I was in a winter chocolate box scene...but with the actual smell of chocolate in the air! I thought I was imagining it at first, but it was wafting across from the nearby chocolate producing plant.
Been coming here for years as its our local site. The park has had a massive refurb and is now much better than it was and it was great before. New facilities block is fantastic, all bright new and sparkling with twin access so it's always open. New serviced pitches are a great improvement and there's also a few premium pitches that have a bbq and picnic area and table on them, lots of trees have been trimmed back and felled so you get lots more sun on more pitches and the park feels much more open. The new kids play area looks bright and good fun for the young ones. There is also a new dog and bike wash facility with a bike servicing station by the block. The park is in a great location and has good selection of takeaways and a Co-op, Spar shops and a great Indian restaurant nearby, the site also has caravan storage on site. There are some great walks along the canal, into Chirk and up to the Chirk castle. Site entrance has been resurfaced a while ago and is a massive improvement. Wardens at time of writing this are fantastic.
Lovely site. All new facilities block. Large pitches set in woodland glades. Great base for walking and cycling Llangollen canal close by and Chirk Aquaduct plus close to some great Nirth Wales villagesRooms: 5/5
The site is nicely laid out and has a recently refurbished toilet block which is lovely and warm. The wardens are helpful and friendly and there are lots of places to visit in the area.
Always a lovely site, but after recent work there are now more hardstanding pitches and updated facilities. One of our favouritesLocation: 5/5
What a lovely campsite with fantastic new facilities in a beautiful place. Dog-friendliness: Great for people with dogs.
10out of 10 fantastic site lovely and clean great walks for us and the dogs .
Love it, Chirk castle near by and lots of place's to visit. First visit since the refurb, wow the new shower block is lovely, and the new pitches are great, spoilt myself and went on a service pitch.Rooms: 5/5
Refurbishment is planned and some areas are overdue. The water pressure in the showers is poor and the condition of the hard standings is in need of renewal. That having been said, the site is kept clean and tidy and the is location is ideal for exploring the borders of Wales and England. Chirk Castle is well worth a visit and although up hill is within walking distance.
