This pub is located in such a lovely spot, right next to a church overlooking a gorgeous mountainside view. You can watch wild horses and sheep walk by and local residents are always friendly. The inside and outside of this pub is looked after well, with ample seating and it's very dog friendly. It was just up the road from our location in Llangennith and a great place to rest after a day at the beach. Gave four stars as the steak we had was way over cooked than we asked it to be for £25+ and the curry dish we had was okay.. overall a great summer pub though
I really enjoyed my evening here. The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and bar staff went out of their way to accommodate us. It was a really delightful evening. Downside was the dessert, apple pie was overheated in probably a microwave and so was a soft mush and bland. And also not the Inn's fault but as we were camping in Hillend there was one streetlight on the whole walk, closer to the residential area and a dark walk back without pavements. Overall would love to go back
An absolutely cracking village pub. The atmosphere is fun and lively and the staff are just brilliant - so welcoming, making a big fuss of the pooch and even giving her sausages for breakfast. Despite its buzzing vibe, we never had to queue at the bar and were served promptly. The food is tasty with generous portions - really enjoyed the curries and fish & chips. Breakfast was especially good. Loads of different seating options - the large garden at the front is particularly charming with views of the coastal landscape and church. Great beers - lots of options. Overall fantastic warm Welsh hospitality and wonderful to find a pub that it at the heart of the community and also super welcoming to holiday makers. Hotel - large and spacious rooms with great beds. Loved how dog friendly they were. Tip - you need to ask for your room to be cleaned.
Stopped off here for a drink after a walk on Phwelli beach. The view from the terrace at the front of the pub was very pretty. The real ale was also good. We had a pint and a half of Lobster pot. Dog friendly pub.Service: 4/5
We had a fantastic stay at the Kings head. The staff were so friendly and nothing was a problem. The rooms were very clean & plenty of hot water. The food was so tasty. Great location. Would definitely go back. Highly recommend the Kings head. Rooms: The rooms were absolutely fantastic. Great to have a bath & a shower with plenty of hot water. Everything was just so clean. Food & drinks: The food was so tasty. My husband said that the rice he had with his meal was the best he had ever had before.
Meal for 4 adults. Excellent service. Staff were really warm, welcoming and friendly. Lovely meal and would highly recommend the 10oz sirloin steak, it was seasoned and cooked to perfection.Service: 5/5
We have just had a lovely stay at the King's Head Inn with our little dog. The rooms were spacious and lovely and clean. The ground floor room was perfect for us with our dog. We ate in the pub on all 3 nights of our stay and the food was delicious. Breakfast was wonderful too, with a sausage for our doggie. The staff were so friendly and helpful and made us feel really welcome, even when it was busy nothing was too much trouble. It was close to some beautiful beaches that are a perfect start for a day's walking with lots of lovely coastal paths. I will definately be recommending the King's Head Inn to friends and family and be returning again in the future.
Quaint pub with friendly staff who went out of their way to welcome us and our dog. The food was beautiful! The lamb pie was divine. They even provide doggy dinners. I will definitely be back to sample more off the menu.
Went for dinner last night here, having stayed in the hotel a few years ago. The hotel stay was excellent back then, but the dinner last night was poor sadly. We waited 90 minutes for food which was below expectations. Two of the group had curries which literally just came with rice and a small dish of curry poppadoms were £2.45 for two.....!, the fish and chips were OK, and the burgers were below average. The "buttermilk vegan burger" for £18 was literally two pieces deep freeze Quorn chucked in the deep fryer, not that many chips and not much else between the buns. If we hadn't waited so long, perhaps it would have been ok but to wait around and then get something which was not worth the money felt disappointing. Since staying at the hotel, the pub restaurant area has been extended inside and out, and it just felt like the kitchen perhaps was not able to handle the extra covers that were being packed in. We saw a slot of people come in, get seated then leave or move because the tables were too close together. Appreciate that there is a small window to make revenue in the Welsh summertime, but if you want return customers, then the standards have to be higher at these prices. If you're going, get there early and choose the fish and chips!
Went with 2 others who also had the £18 kings head burger which was nothing more than a cheap frozen burger, not what you expect for an expensive pub meal. Basically a kebab shop burger which I’d only be able to bear after a night out. Absolutely terrible food for the price and they didn’t even have Heinz ketchup
