When planning an overnight stay between jobs I found this little gem of a place on booking dot com. Firstly the room, i stayed in no.7, part of the new building. It was decorated and furnished to an amazingly high standard, and was so comfortable. One of the reasons I chose this place was for the desk, I had 2 hours work at my laptop to complete before morning. I had dinner at the restaurant, amazing pub food, fresh and homemade. The Adnams beer was kept well too. Breakfast was equally as good as the dinner, and it arrived pretty quick after ordering. Overall I hope to go back if work ever comes in over in the East.
I’ve been to the kings arms a couple times now both for drinks and also for food. The staff are very welcoming and always take the time to recommend different drinks and dishes when I’ve been unsure what to order. The food itself is great and Is always leaving me wanting to come back.
We popped in for a late lunch and were not disappointed. We had veggie chicken wings, Korean burger and hunter's chicken. All very tasty, happy with our meal.
Recently moved to the area so just trying out new places. Staff here were lovely to be fair and I can imagine it could be nice enough to grab a drink. But no heating on so we were absolutely freezing the whole meal. As it was a Sunday we opted for their roast except were told they were all out of potatoes and yorkshire puddings at 12.45... and the place was empty? Tried ordering other options off the menu, also not available. Food took nearly 90 minutes to arrive despite again the place having few other customers. Food was very poor standard. Mostly cold, meat was cheap and over cooked and none of it was how it was described on the menu. All in all would not recommend and won't be back.
Lovely pub. Was there for the quiz which was done using your mobiles by downloading an app. Wasn't keen on the format. But good service, friendly staff nice atmosphere.
One of the best places to eat and drink in Colly. Taking the pub classics to next level. Always have tasty meals, clean pub and it's facilities and professional and friendly staff.
Can thoroughly recommend The Kings Arms. Visiting Colchester for the day and wanted a proper Sunday roast dinner. Wasn't disappointed! Great home cooked food and a friendly warm welcome from the staff. Made our day out perfect!
Great pub with great atmosphere, Scrumptious food and helpful staff, big thumbs-up highly recommend and I'll definitely return!
Came here for some food and some drinks before I headed into town, the atmosphere was amazing, the music was great and made a vibe, I had the sausage and mash, the gravy was full of flavour, and the sausage and mash were filling and hit the sides perfectly, I had the kraken as I enjoy my rum, and it was perfectly chilled, so overall i had a great time, I was made to feel welcome, and I can't wait to come back.
I normally love this pub and enjoy coming here every so often but I recently visited and ordered on the app. Normally it states that certain items on the menu are not available but in this case where I ordered a drink it was not. The bar woman came and told me it was not available and that I had been refunded so I could order a different drink so I did this, yet over a month down the line I am yet to receive the refund. I have tried contacting the company but have received no reply, would not normally reach out this way but spending £10 on one cider is ridiculous.
