What has happened to this place? I have visited the King William several times before when in the area. Generally the experience has been positive with good food and service. I went today with my family and oh my word, how things have changed... We arrived to total chaos, no one acknowledged us and the whole place felt in total array. Once we were seen to we were sat in the rear of the venue with a nice view over the gardens. The menu took quite some time to arrive and our drinks order wasn't taken until menus arrived. One member of our party has special dietary requirements and so asked the young waitress a few questions, she had no idea to the answers and explained there was no manager on duty today so didn't know who to ask?! We then asked another member of staff who went to ask the chef directly and he came back with the answers. Our food was good but did take some time to arrive. All the time we were at the venue it seemed like a sketch from Fawlty Towers, the experience we had today was incredibly poor and the place seemed unorganized and rudderless. Such a shame when spending £18.00 plus on a Sunday roast. Won't be planning on a return trip any time soon.
It was highly recommended so we went for lunch to try it. I had the hake which although very nice for £21,95 it seemed a little small and the hassleback potatoes were like mini jackets and not what I was expecting. My husband had fish and chips which he enjoyed commenting on how good the batter was but the pot of mushy peas were ice cold and on request were heated up. Overall we enjoyed it but have to say a little disappointed after everything we'd heard about it.
We joined the fondue & music night on 3rd March. Fantastic atmosphere great service in a lovely venue. However the food let it down. £25 pp and we ended up leaving hungry. Please re look your menu. A small platter of meat some pickles and bread is not worth £25. Shame.
Visited this place as a party of 12 , unfortunately due to me not being able to read , me and my partner were an hour early , the barman that served us , was a lovely bloke , showed us to the table and was so accommodating, and carried on like this throughout the meal , the food we had was beautiful, and well worth the price , and the waitress that served the table did a great job , me and my partner will be happily visiting here again , couldn’t recommend enough . I know not enough good reviews are put on as people just expect that standard , so when it’s good and better , I’d like to give the establishment the credit they deserve , thank you for a lovely evening
3 visits in under 2 weeks! My father, who lives in Spain, loves the place. Great choice of beers, wines and spirits. The food is exceptional and offers a good choice that caters for most people. My only slight, and it is slight, quibble "The service charge". Otherwise staff are helpful, friendly and cannot do enough for you. In fact another visit planned for later.
Fabulous gastro pub! Tom is amazing front-of-house. Food is outstanding. Had better food here than in some Michelin-starred restaurants. Great wine list and amazing cocktails. Ask for the secret ‘Conway Cooler’ on a sunny day.
First time visiting and wasn't disappointed. Food and wine were delicious.Food: 5/5
Absolutely fantastic food, and as it's in such a small village, it has to be great to be so busy. Highly recommended Parking: It is in a field opposite the pub. So ladies don't wear high heels if it's been raining.
Worst place we have ever visited! My wife and I invited our friends from Newcastle to have a nice Christmas dinner which we booked in November and we specifically asked for the Christmas Menu. When we got there we had to wait 25 minutes before I in the end asked for some drinks to be ordered. Other people came and were given menus and drinks and we were just left. Once again after another 20 mins I had to request the menu. When it came we were then told that we couldn’t have the festive menu as it had to be pre ordered. I showed them the email confirmation to which they went into the kitchen and came back later saying that they didn’t have enough food for us due to a few parties they had. I explained that this had been booked months ago and it was not fair to supply the parties and not us. I personally think that they just forgot we were coming and had not set aside anything for us. I complained and got a lip service apology and they said it was not their fault! We had to pay £40 for taxi fares there and back and ended up leaving with no meal and a ruined evening. This is by far the worst place for service we have ever been to. Obviously they feel their regulars and locals are so important that they can ignore other customers so it is on this basis you are advised that your face won’t fit and you won’t get served regardless of whether you have pre booked or not, heed the warning it’s somewhere to avoid!
Lovely, warm, cosy! Our first visit and the staff were so welcoming. Nice log fire burning in the snug and dining area. Beautiful food. Husband and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
