King's College London has significant aspirations in relation to Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL). As the Centre for Technology Enhanced Learning we exist to help the College respond to such aspirations. Specifically we are focused on helping colleagues use technology in ways that are both educationally effective and resource efficient.
Rather than promote technology for its own sake, we acknowledge that good TEL activity and enhanced student experiences are likely to occur when subject matter expertise, pedagogic expertise and technology expertise co-exist. Such ideas are espoused in the ideas of Mishra and Koehler's TPACK framework. (see for example http://www.tpack.org/)
Working closely with the King's Learning Institute we bring pedagogic and technical expertise and offer a number of ways in which we can share our expertise and work with you.
For example, we offer numerous workshops, teach on accredited programmes, create e.learning resources, work with school teams to co-create e.learning resources, provide opportunities for TEL activity to be showcased more widely across the College and bring together interested teams and individuals to explore a number of TEL-related initiatives.
We are currently designing and will soon launch 'TEL curriculum design' days. The intent of such days will be to provide opportunities for programme teams to establish-and-share their curriculum challenges / aspirations and work with us to explore how technology can support them.
In addition to the above, we coordinate.
The Technology Enhanced Learning Forum
The Future Proofing KEATS group
The College network of E-Learning Content Developers
The MOOC Special Interest Group
Underscoring all that we do is our desire to help the College in all its TEL plans, activities and aspirations.
Do please get in touch should you wish to explore how we can help you.
