Celebrating 100 years of research and teaching excellence SOAS’s world class scholars are well-placed to provide
the analysis and understanding of our rapidly changing world.

Our programmes are taught by respected specialists engaged in fieldwork and research which influence government policy and the lives of individuals across the globe. SOAS scholars grapple with the pressing issues confronting two-thirds of humankind today: democracy, development, economy, finance and public policy, human rights, migration, identity, legal systems, poverty, religion, and social change.

The entrance to the main building is absolutely stunning. Lots of photo opportunities for students, graduands, alumni, etc. The reception area looks good as well with screens and more. Friendly and private style sitting is available on each floor with tables that can be used as a study or chill out space. There's also a canteen in the Paul Wembley Wing that's open for 2 hours everyday and serves really good food.
Shameless University still upholding its 'oriental' attitud of the 19th century colonial arrogance and repression of indigenous people. See its recent attitude to Palestinian sovereignty and its links to the terror group IDF-ashamed that I ever earned a degree there. In addition, it's management has been complicit in subjecting the student encampment with violence, sexual harassment, racial abuse and antisemitism- all the hallmarks of a crazed colonial power
Nice location lovely place to spend academic time at. Events free to the public are often part of their events so well worth keeping an eye on.
They don't know how to run online courses, have poor data protection practices, and get angry at you when you call them out. Go elsewhere.
Despite all negative feedback. I really like this place and I have many great memories here. I keep on going back year after year for events or to meet professors or colleagues
The uni experience I want to forget. Avoid!!! Especially law department...
The University is good but I have been robbed at the student accommodation.The cleaning service stole me 200 pounds and noone could nothing.It caused me psychological problems.all these in 2016.In Greece things are much safer in regards of that.I remember i have given 0,20 eurocents to a poor lady but not to be stolen this large amount of money.What a shame for London.I have stayed in student accommodation in Luton and London and both times i have been robbed seriously.Unbelievable.What a shame.Its the worst experience i ve ever had.I have never been robbed.I hate the student accommodation services and the spare of change people annoying really for me.

DO NOT ATTEND SOAS. Teaching is fantastic, but not worth the appalling behaviour of the administrative staff. Spend hours asking for very simple changes to be made. Would recommend any student to stay clear of SOAS.
This is an honest review of the current situation of law students at SOAS, which I feel as though A level students who are making their university choices need to be aware of. There is undeniably a huge level of friction and miscommunication between law students and SOAS staff. If you ever email admin or student support, expect no response or a really late response. Staff delete students comments on forums and reprimand students for expressing their respectful views about how they feel on certain situations. Although SOAS claims to moderate coursework and examinations, there are significant inconsistencies in the level of marking and feedback provided by academic staff which seriously needs to be investigated because it has detrimental impacts on students overall performance in their degree and affects their whole future. How can they expect students to perform well or improve if the feedback is inadequate and non-existent? Keep in mind students pay £9250 per year for their guidance and advice. Most importantly, this year the examination format for law students at SOAS has changed considerably in comparison to other law departments in other universities. SOAS expect second year law students to sit three hour timed examinations, where there are two or three questions per module and the word count is 1200 words for each question. Whereas other universities notably Warwick, UCL, QMUL etc have considerably longer exam times than SOAS students, which puts us at an unfair and unjust disadvantage. Furthermore, there are other departments within SOAS which have 24 hour and 48 hour examinations. SOAS displays a huge lack of respect and professionalism as students were notified of this change at the end of March and one month before students have to sit these examinations. Also, throughout the year students were told to email and petition to different members of staff and were told at the last moment who actually has power over the exam format. As a result, students now feel stressed, disrespected and defeated as their emotions and interests were played with. SOAS needs to learn to respect their students and notify them of important information and changes well in advance. Please do not disadvantage yourself by coming to such an institution.
