The quality of care on certain wards has noticeably declined in recent years. My partner is chronically ill and must attend this hospital regularly, so I’ve had many opportunities to observe how things have changed. I try to stay objective and not judge based on a single incident, but even as a visitor it’s clear that staff interactions have become increasingly strained.nnThere is now a general sense that asking a question or not knowing an unwritten rule is an inconvenience. I’ve witnessed staff using passive-aggressive tones with visitors seeking updates on their loved ones, snapping at people who accidentally enter the wrong area, and even gossiping about patients within earshot. These behaviours were not common in the past.nnMy impression is that the hospital is under significant staffing pressure. Years ago, despite being busy and occasionally chaotic, the environment felt warm, supportive, and genuinely patient-focused. Today, it feels harsher and less conducive to good care.nnIf you or a family member are admitted, I recommend being as proactive as possible. Ask clear questions, keep track of information, and advocate for yourself or your loved one. If you do have a negative interaction, remain calm and professional, make notes of what happened, and contact PALS so your feedback contributes to meaningful institutional improvement.nnThis hospital can return to its former high standard, but it needs honest reporting and support from its community.
King’s College Hospital provides an outstanding level of care and professionalism. From arrival to discharge, patients are treated with compassion, respect, and reassurance, creating confidence and trust during what can be a stressful time.nnThe medical teams are highly skilled, knowledgeable, and dedicated, taking the time to explain procedures clearly and answer questions with patience. Nurses and support staff are exceptional caring, attentive, and hardworking, always going the extra mile to ensure comfort and wellbeing.nnThe hospital is well organised, clean, and efficient, with services running as smoothly as possible despite the high demand. The commitment of staff at every level truly stands out and makes a real difference to patient experience.nnKing’s College Hospital is a place where professionalism meets genuine care. A remarkable NHS hospital that deserves high praise highly recommended and deeply appreciated.
Yesterday I attended KCH for a routine appointment which went fine, but as I am currently having a small problem with a painful foot so I thought while I was there I'd get it checked out in A&E.nnGot to A&E checked in on the tablet's provided, to cut a long story short. I was seen by triage went for an X Ray and re-seen after my images were ready, thankfully no big problem.nnI was seen by several people including an Asian, Black, Mixed Heritage, New Zealander and another white British person, ALL were so pleasant, helpful and kind.nnThe moral of this story is that no matter where you come from, nor the colour of your skin ALL people are equally nice and should be treated with respect and kindness.nnAnd as a bonus, it was only about 2 hours start to finish, so thanks KCH and your staff team.
Review for King’s College HospitalnnWe just want to say a huge thank you to everyone at King’s College Hospital for taking such good care of our mum while she’s still with you. The staff have been so kind, patient, and supportive, and it’s really helped us get through a tough time.nnA special thank you to the team on Christine Brown Ward — you’ve all been amazing with her, and we really appreciate the way you look after her day to day.nnWe’re genuinely grateful for everything you’re doing for our mum. It means a lot to us.
Considering I went on a busy Monday to A&E I was treated amazing by the staff that took my symptoms seriously and did everything necessary to have me feeling better and prescribing the medication required. Huge thank you to Bibi who communicated thoroughly and was super gentle, Dr Hakim who made me feel calm and Conz who cracked some jokes whilst giving me IV fluids.
