The bar staff tend to be a bit hostile if you're aged over 25 and not looking to waste all of your money in their bar. It's well known for being a dive and a bit of a joke but the drinks are just so cheap you can't avoid but going there for happy hour. I think if the bar staff actually smiled once in a while and the bouncers didn't act as though they are guarding the crown jewels, this place would gain a stronger reputation. People go to this bar for cheap drinks and a good time, not to look at a Van Gogh. I watched a bouncer act really shocked when someone tried to get in that was a bit drunk. If you want a less serious drink and not be monitored by staff, then I suggest heading over to Yates or somewhere less serious.
Kelly's. I wish I could review this club from experience, but I'm afraid it wasn't even open! Your Facebook and a poster outside advertised Wednesday nights Karaoke, free entry before 10. We were there half 9 and the doors were shut. We periodically returned until 11 with no change. As a club and as a business it should be standard knowledge not to advertise that you are open on a day you aren't. We are severely disappointed. I would say we won't return again, but that wouldn't make a difference if you aren't open.
Great drinks prices, gets really busy before any other club in Southampton so it's a great place to start the night. We went out for a hen party and felt looked after by the staff at kellys bar. If you like great music, and are not shy to mingle with people, kellys bar is awesome.
The door men thought they were above the law the theatened customers if they didn't like their face. Whilst I queued the door men saw fit to ban someone for simply asking why they were rude to him. I even stepped up and said this isn't how to provide security. I asked what SIA training did he take as their seem to be some serious failings. I was then barred entry. I've reported this to the SIA as customers shouldn't be made to feel like this when going to an entertainment venue. If Kelly's has any card for the people that make them money is change the joke of a security team on the door. It was embarrassing to see this type of behaviour from a venues security. They are not above the law. They are not the law.
Amazing place to go and party. Great atmosphere, music and staff.
