Tamarind Kitchen

About

Convivial Indian dining experience in Soho from the team behind the Michelin-starred Tamarind of Mayfair.

Story

After two decades of Tamarind of Mayfair, we became convinced of the need for a de-formalised fine dining option. With the idea came the perfect location for a sophisticated restaurant of this format - Soho. And so, Tamarind Kitchen began to take form.

While Tamarind Kitchen has been envisioned as a less formal dining destination, there is absolutely nothing casual about the menu. Designed by Peter Joseph, the Head Chef at Tamarind of Mayfair, the menu at Tamarind Kitchen is every bit as delectable and exacting in its standards as you’ve come to expect from a Tamarind Collection restaurant.

We look forward to welcoming to you to Tamarind Kitchen.

I’ve never been a fan of indian food but this is an exceptional place with incredible, mouth watering flavors. It was so good that I went again the day after I first came here. Very kind and attentive servers, I highly recommend coming for a nice night out. Only bad thing is that servers pressure you to order more food and desserts, other than that, amazing!
I am Indian and me and my family ate at Tamarind last night for my mum’s 70th bday and would rate it 10/10. The service was excellent - thanks to Mahanoor who was incredibly attentive, friendly and helpful; she made our experience extra special. The restaurant is not too loud, it is warm and welcoming with low lighting and nice decor, booth tables, very comfortable. The food was delicious and would highly recommend the Avocado belphuri, Kerela prawn curry , Tandoori lamb seekh kebab, Dungar chicken chops, Old delhi Butter chicken curry, Awadhi chicken biryani my favourite that was plenty of food to share between 5 people with Roti & chutneys. Drinks were great too.
It is common knowledge that the UK offers some of the BEST Indian cuisine outside of the Indian Subcontinent. On an unseasonably cold and wet London evening, the thought of having some spicy, hot, hearty Indian food to battle the elements seems like a most appealing and perfect idea. Tamarind Kitchen, the sister of the Michelin 1* Tamarind, is located inside of Soho and just a short leisurely walk from our hotel, hence our pick for dinner venue. Totally famished, the result of missing lunch. For tonight’s dinner, we went flat out and ordered the following: - Crispy Sprouting Broccoli - Dungar Chicken Chops Tandoori Thigh Tikka - Tandoori char-grilled Lamb Chops - Badami Murgh Korma Delicate sauce of Almond, Green Cardamom, Saffron - Calcutta Bhuna Gosht - Kerala Prawn Curry Kadampuli, Coconut, Shallots, Malarbar spices - Cucumber Kaita - Lemon Rice - Chili Garlic Naan - Mango Lassi Most of the dishes’ flavor profiles were so exotic and delicious, they were simply heads and shoulders above the many uninspired and mediocre offerings we are accustomed to in Toronto. The mouth-watering coating and seasoning of the Tandooris in particular was simply amazing ... a totally new and wonderful taste experience for some of us.
Classic Indian restaurant. Loved the Indian flavors. Every dish was great. One remark about the Lobster, which was overcooked, what a shame!Food: 5/5
A fantastic dinning experience that presented genuine Indian flavors in a tasting menu that was rich, varied and tasty. The wine and cocktails menu were also a great match to what we had. The atmosphere is cosy and staff were tremendously friendly and helpful in explaining what we were trying - I always enjoy this narrative to set the tone describing ingredients and meal presentation. On and off, one of my favorite Indian restaurants in town
The food taste was amazing but the quantity is really less as compared to the price paid. The service was also quick enough but not upto the mark as expected a better service from such a high rated restaurant. I would like to appreciate that they brought a sorbet along with candle on the top as it was my brother’s birthday.
Outstanding little Indian with top quality Indian food, a beautiful and helpful hostess and lovely touches throughout. The taster menu at £50 is an absolute steal and the wine is very reasonably priced. Bring a date, bring your business partner, bring someone you want to impress. The service was faultless.Food: 5/5
4.1 current average on google is a hilariously low rating for this restaurant. For my palate almost every dish had perfect flavor, spice, etc and also great presentation. Great service. And a beautiful restaurant.Food: 5/5
Good food, fast and attentive service. I wasnt a fan of the crescent curry platter though. Not necessarily that it wasnt enough food or anything, just something about the presentation of the four tiny dishes felt somewhat unsatisfying. Also quite pricey overallFood: 3/5
My boyfriend and I stumbled upon Tamarind Kitchen during a stroll to China Town, and it turned out to be a delightful discovery. This Indian restaurant exudes class and beauty; every aspect, from the elegant design to the thoughtful menu and impeccable service, was truly top-notch. Our culinary adventure included the Raj Kachori, a highly recommended choice that dazzled with its diverse flavors and delightful toppings. The Grilled Seabass impressed with a perfectly portioned, expertly cooked dish that avoided over-seasoning. The Dunbar Chicken Chops showcased flawlessly seasoned, fall-off-the-bone meat. The Kerala Prawn Curry brought a delightful hint of spice, accompanied by an incredible sauce. The Lassooi Palak, Tandoori Roti, and steamed rice served as ideal accompaniments, perfectly portioned for a satisfying meal for two. They also have amazing cocktails, and of course assorted teas. However, the star of the evening was undoubtedly the Turmeric Crème Brûlée – an absolute must-try and easily my top crème brûlée experience to date. Tamarind Kitchen left us thoroughly impressed, and without a doubt, we plan to return for another exceptional dining experience.
