Good selection of Harvey’s Brewery beers as you would expect. Staff were great. It’s a little bit tucked out of the way so need to look out for it if you’re a first timer like me.
Lovely pub. Looking a bit tired now but that's the charm. It's a locals and tourists pub. Great selection of Harvey's . But I have to go for a pint of Best. My favourite.
Best pint of Harvey's, served less than 150m from the brewery. Perfect!
I was here for lunch on a glorious September day, sitting outside at the table that gave the best view of the river. Excellent food for the price and my lunch companion thought the beer was equally good, as one would expect from a pub owned and operated by the brewery. My lime and soda was more than okay. Indoors it is a lovely traditional pub.
Excellent tap room, great staff, quality beers brewed in the town, well worth a visit if down this way.
Really old pub just over the road from Harveys brewery. Some ales available in kegs covered in jackets at the back of the bar. A truly wonderful pint of best bitter. Food good as well. Well worth a visit.
Fantastic food, excellent service, nothing was too much trouble.
Good atmosphere. Beer good, and food is also good. Might be a little pricey, but portion sizes are generous, and quality is good. Staff are friendly and helpful. Clean place and toilets also in good condition.
I visited the John Harvey Tavern today and had to leave immediately due to the strong smell of urine coming from the male toilets adjoining the main bar. It was like walking into a public lavatory, not a pub, quite honestly. This was very disappointing, as we enjoy this pub for it's great ale and location close to Harvey's brewery and the river. This has to be addressed before we will use this venue.
We go to this pub on special occasions bonfire night, new years eve because you can guarantee it'll be fairly empty. Because, though it has good beer, it has a manager that clearly doesn't give a stuff. Staff though were great. Real shame. Harveys, this is a goldmine pub but it's soulless so no regulars.
