"Since 1998, the Jalsa Ghar Indian Restaurant in Great Dunmow has been delighting customers by combining traditional Indian and Bangladeshi dishes with many other dishes never before served in Indian restaurants in Essex. Our main objective is to provide great food of the highest quality using only the freshest and finest ingredients, prepared to the highest standards. All our food is cooked with natural herbs and spices and we use only low cholesterol sunflower oil in our dishes. We are proud to say that we use the minimum amount of food colouring in our dishes. We are confident that you'll enjoy the great food that we have to offer and the first class service that goes with it."

An impressive achievement: the first curry I’ve ever had with absolutely no spice or flavour. I didn’t realise “Indian cuisine” now included boiled sadness as a menu option.nnWhen I mentioned it, I was told nothing could be done because the owner had already gone home. Apparently customer service clocks out early here. Good to know problems are only solvable during office hours.nnEven better, nobody asked if the food was okay until the bill arrived, which felt less like hospitality and more like a post-credit scene.nnIf you enjoy bland food and creative excuses, this is your place. I’ll be going somewhere that remembers seasoning exists.
First time eating in at the Jalsa Ghar in Dunmow, food was delicious. I had the king prawn balti and we had chicken tikka which came sizzling on a hot plate. The onion bhaji was too crispy for my liking but my boyfriend enjoyed them. Only downside was that there was a very loud table in the restaurant which meant it was quite hard to hear each other speak. We will be returning on a quieter day! You have to book to get a table here!
Hello. The dining experience was great at this restaurant. The food was good. The service was exceptional, with a special mention to Javed and Niaz, who went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. All the servers were polite, attentive and made us feel well-cared for throughout our meal.
We use this restaurant a lot for takeaway food. Always of a high standard. However, on Wednesday 29 October the 3 peshwari naan breads we collected were all burnt & inedible. I have emailed them a photo, but no response. I doubt we’ll use them again.
This is the worst restaurant we have ever walked into. It's a slum. A dive. Disgusting. Table booked for month. Tables were not even laid , no clothes. Expected us to sit right next to where customers wait to pick up takeaways or by the freezing cold door. Did not even get acknowledged for five minutes and was pushing for us to sit down. Then told to go to bar. One guy serving the whole pub / restaurant . Tripped up flooring. Limited amount of choice of drinks did not get served . Walked out. Happy Anniversary to us
