"Since 1998, the Jalsa Ghar Indian Restaurant in Great Dunmow has been delighting customers by combining traditional Indian and Bangladeshi dishes with many other dishes never before served in Indian restaurants in Essex. Our main objective is to provide great food of the highest quality using only the freshest and finest ingredients, prepared to the highest standards. All our food is cooked with natural herbs and spices and we use only low cholesterol sunflower oil in our dishes. We are proud to say that we use the minimum amount of food colouring in our dishes. We are confident that you'll enjoy the great food that we have to offer and the first class service that goes with it."

We are so lucky to have this place locally. The food is so good, the meat is always tender and flavourful - not just spicy. The poppadoms and breads are fresh and lovely, the selection is impressive and all the staff are friendly and happy to check things. Free parking. Dogs permitted at 'pub' end. Bar well stocked. Lovely ambiance.
We left Dunmow 7 years ago so to revisit here was a real treat. Love the food here, which has always been worthy of the awards the restaurant has won. Zia and the team are really friendly and excellent hosts. If I had one criticism the table booked is hardly ever actually available whe you arrive.... often on busy nights we might not site down until 9pm which is difficult when you have children with you.... but the food is so good its worth the trip anyway
Great Indian restaurant with a good selection of dishes. Quite small inside, but quaint.
I don’t know how this place has been nominated for the British curry awards, the food that comes out of the kitchen is just microwaved/warmed up, cooked earlier in the day!! Low quality meat… my chicken was tough and fatty my daughters lamb came out cold in the middle, also it wasn’t lamb definitely MUTTON If you want a nice Indian meal please look else where! I have Indian twice a week and this is possibly the worstdisappointing as we came herbecause we saw that it was the only curry house in Essex nominated for a curry award Must survive off the curry awards promotions as they seem to really seem to advertise it massively AVOID THIS PLACE
not a bad restaurant, however some of the staff are so despicable with how the treat you and talk to you would not highly recommend unless you want a evening of the staff judging you to their hearts content.

The food here is bloody lovely, People travel for miles to eat here. The atmosphere is very friendly. Also do take away. Parking: About 16/18 parking spaces on site, Limited street parking opposite .
Have been using the Jalsa Ghar for about 10 years now. Never ever had a bad meal. Food is hot, plentiful and very flavoursome. Naan breads are the best you’ll get. Staff are all very pleasant. Can be extremely busy of an evening so recommend booking.
Recently l had a delicious supper here and the food was very good and tasty! I would highly recomend the lemon icecream for dessert
I would give the food 6 stars if I could. The Duck Tikka masala was phenomenal. Its hard to get duck spot on. With this chef it was done like it was nothing. Quick, efficient and good value for money. Go check it out yourself!
