Spacious pub inside and out recommended for its location. On a popular walkers/cyclist route. Possibly does stopovers so ring ahead for enquiries Food: 5/5
Very poor experience sat at a table for over 30mins before it was cleared up from the previous diners. There are no signs to tell you but you cannot order food at the outdoor bar so queued up for no reason. Then when I went inside as I was about to be served the server got told no more food orders to be taken, despite the fact the server next to me had the same instruction but continued to serve food. The outdoor area is good and spacious the kids play area is good too. Parking is free as long as you enter your reg when in the pub....but you dont know that until you enter the pub. Overall decent place but service is frustrating and there needs to be more relevant signage. Parking: Enter Reg inside Kid-friendliness: Nice sized play area
Visited recently, the location is lovely, staff were welcoming, with very good service and the food was great. Definitely will be back.Food: 4/5
The staff and location were 5/5. They had lots of outdoor seating which was lovely when the sun was out. However, the food was 2/5. They didn't have any salads available and the burgers we ordered was advertised to have a brioche bun but came with a regular flour bap bun. The grilled chicken in the burgers were completely unseasoned, overcooked and dry with no sauce not even sauce on the bun so they were a jaw workout to eat. It seems like they have stock issues because when we asked for ketchup for our chips they didn't have any. A restaurant without ketchup?! Finally, and the worst part was the coleslaw had a thick black hair buried inside it which I only discovered after already eating some of it see the photo. Overall, I'd come back for the location and to have a drink in the sun but I wouldn't recommend eating here.
No atmosphere. The place is drab and lacking in warmth and colour. The food was really disappointing, the so called home made curry lacked a reasonable amount of chicken. The sauce was watery and had little flavour.. Not a patch on a Tesco ready meal .Food: 1/5
Avoid if you want food, ordered the tuna mayo on white bloomer with salad garnish, turns up, no salad garnish and worst of all no white bloomer either just 2 slices of cheap supermarket white bread. " We haven't got any proper bread or panini " was the response. " Forgot to tell you when I served you no salad in either". This was at 2pm on a Wednesday. Offered refund which was taken no intention of paying £6.95 for something easily made for £1. Asked to speak to the manager, told not in offered to leave a phone number " I can take it but he'll not ring you" then proceeded to walk away without taking the number. Great customer service NOT
Really disappointing as was taking my elderly grandmother out for her first meal in years. To start with, there were no hot drinks available and no regular coke. Sunday roasts we ordered came at different times. We were told the side that we’d ordered wasn’t available and the alternative arrived near the end of the meal. Meat was tough and chewy, “roast” potatoes deep fried were hard. Had to ask 3 times just for salt. We then weren’t allowed to order desserts as they weren’t taking any more food orders at 3pm. Staff were apologetic and were doing their best but the whole place seemed chaotic. Really disappointing.
Large garden out back. Not a great beer selection. No IPA. No ales in stock on the day we visited. Gin and tonic was served without lemon or any other fruit. Reasonable prices. Very dog friendly. A fairly pleasant play area for kids. Picnic bench was unsafe and wobbly. Outdoor bar shut on a hot August Saturday afternoon. Didn’t and wouldn’t try the food based on what I witnessed coming from the kitchen. Sorry folks, but lots of improvement required. Kid-friendliness: Outdoor play area
Tried to get food this evening and found the kitchen had closed half an hour before advertised. So, we thought we’d get some crisps to tide us over before we walked back into chorlton, only to be told they didn’t have ANY crisps in. At all. Drinks came in plastic cups - can understand that on a busy day with a rammed beer garden but there weren’t many others there and it just added to the feeling that they weren’t bothered about providing a good service…
On a nostalgia fest, as I came here as a toddler and youngster decades ago with my family. Very popular place. Food and Drink: I didn't eat in as only start serving at 12 and the bar staff couldn't tell me or ask what was vegetarian. I had a lovely hot Latte. Range of soft and alcoholic drinks and some snacks. Seating: Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating some covered by the tent. Very friendly customers and dog friendly space. Atmosphere: Historic pub with lots of interesting items inside, slightly spoiled outside by in your face signage fixed to the wall. Play Area: Children's play area. Accessibility: Mixed, alternate routes. Getting There: Walking: From the various Meadows, both sides Chorlton and Sale of the River Mersey. Tram: Sale Water Park a reasonably short walk up the road. Bike: Bring your own or there us a hire shop close to the pub, or by Car. Car Parking: Riadside Pay and Display, Patrons register car inside for free parking. Vegetarian options: Staff could not confirm, just got 'probably'. Parking: Pay and Display outside, free to Patrons who register their car at the bar.
