We dined in for the Azalea set menu for a birthday celebration. The start of the dinner was almost perfect. Drinks came fast, the bits we ordered from À la cart, and the first course. The duck did take some time but it tasted amazing so I can’t complain. The service started to go down hill once our original server had disappeared, maybe she went to break or had finished not sure. Took some time for the main course so we expected it to be on par with the other dishes we had tried, but it wasn’t very good 4 prawns to share, noodles were delicious beef was chewy and green beans were okay I’ve had better in smaller more niche restaurants. I wouldn’t recommend the dessert to anyone. Asked for the bill to be brought to the table, then was left for about fifteen minutes so we just went up to the till. Everything just took too long in the second half which made us feel a bit underwhelmed. It’s a shame because it’s my sisters first time here, she usually prefers Oblix but I convinced her to try Hutong. I don’t think we will be returning.
Two of us went for the dynasty brunch. There is a choice of 6 starters and you can order as much of these as you want. We liked the two dumpling options and prawn spring rolls. The other 3 were okay but forgettable. One main selection each sounds stingy but was more than enough. Would've been nice to allow both a rice and noodles option as a side but you are restricted to choosing one only. Noodles were tasty but on the oily side. Added the half Peking duck as an extra which was a nice touch. Dessert was very good, we both got the mango pudding which I highly recommend. Only gave a 4/5 starts for food, not because the food wasn't worthy of 5 stars but for the price, I could've got better Chinese food elsewhere in my opinion. What gives the place 5/5 are the atmosphere and the service. Our waiter, Pablo, was attentive and happy to serve us and others around with a smile. 33 floors up with window views is quite spectacular. Our bill came to £285 with service. Overall I gave 4/5 stars would've given 4.5/5 if I had the option, as in hindsight, the food was nice but for the overall high price, there are better options elsewhere. Everything else such as service and atmosphere is 5 stars. Would recommend but only for a special occasion.
I recently visited Hutong to celebrate my 3-year anniversary with my partner, and the experience was absolutely unforgettable. Our server, Nadia, was incredible from the moment we sat down—she was attentive, remembered all our orders, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout the night. The food was phenomenal, especially the Prawn Spring Rolls, which I’m now obsessed with! The cocktails were equally impressive, and we were lucky enough to sit by the window and enjoy a perfect sunset at 6 PM, which added a romantic touch to the evening. After our meal and paying the bill, Nadia surprised us with a complimentary chocolate dessert in honor of our anniversary. I’ve never felt so welcomed and cared for at a restaurant. Hutong made our special night even more memorable, and I can’t recommend it enough!
Overall, it was a decent experience with fantastic views. The food was alright, but the portions, especially the shredded beef, felt a bit small for the price. The cocktails were just okay, nothing special. The service was average; didn't check back on our food. We also found the 15% service charge a bit excessive. In general, it was okay, but nothing extraordinary, especially the restaurant being at The Shard.
Fantastic service! Couldn't have had a better experience. I'm a fussy eater allergies & preference combined, so I found a lot of the menu unpalatable. My friend, whose birthday it was, ordered pretty much half of the menu and said the food was wonderful, though. Very dark inside, but nice decor and the private room was a great touch.
We could not have asked for more out of this venue. The food, drinks, service, decore, the views it was all perfect we would highly recommend the restaurant to anyone. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and they gave us a table by the window with the most amazing views and a gorgeous dessert plate at the end. Really nice touch.
Settled on this restaurant for the view while celebrating a special occasion and didn't expect much from the food. It was a busy afternoon but the atmosphere was vibrant and great. The service was a tad slow with the orders but the waiting staff were all friendly and professional in attitude. We had a window table and the view over London was spectacular. Now to the food. It was delicious and utterly enjoyable by all members of my party of 3. It was a set menu, the dynasty lunch I believe it's called. Good selection of starters, easily the best part of the meal. The overall experience was positive and the verdict by all is that we will definitely be back!
I have Been to the restaurant as well as the bar a couple of times for birthday celebrations and early new year parties, I am never disappointed by the food or atmosphere. Although the restaurant requires you to reserve a table in advance the bar is available for walk-in. The food menu has plenty of options to choose from but my personal favourite was the red lantern soft-shell crab. I did try other things on the menu and everything was really delicious and presented very beautifully. Highly recommend this restaurant for a great meal and breathtaking view of London.
Amazing venue with awesome views of the London skyline. Special thanks to David Boyd an amazing human being. From the moment we got there to moment we left, David was looking after us the whole evening. He was very attentive to our needs and curated an amazing and memorable evening. Not to forget the food which was very tasty and leaves you wanting more.
We had a lovely time at Hutong today lunchtime. Our waiter Francesco was very friendly and exceptionally attentive, helping with menu choices, photography and carrying my bag I had a sore arm. We were given an amazing window table with views over St Paul's Cathedral and Big Ben. We had the £39 set menu, which did not disappoint. Francesco helped us to choose dishes within this that he felt we'd enjoy. As it was a graduation celebration, I received an absolutely divine complimentary miniature chocolate dessert. Overall, a wonderful celebration made all the better by Francesco!
