Single Happy, this was because I ordered a portion of pork and shrimp spring rolls. Theses were piping hot fresh and tasty. Will keep going back for this. Also ordered a special fried rice because of the rave review of this rice from my mother. Mine was so dark with soya sauce that it was excessive and used to cover up the supposed quality of the rice. It looked horrible and tasted not so great. Wasted my money on this and threw most of it away. I suspect that I was given a re-reheat with loads of extra soya sauce to cover the fact that it probably wasn't very fresh, had that bitter taste to it. Very disappointed indeed with this so-called not so special fried rice.
Used to be great, I've been going here for over 10+ years. The food is still decent but the service is dreadful, no smiles, no friendliness and now they're charging me extra for the same order I've been making for years. The prices are astronomical. There are better options available even if I have to travel a little further. Still only take cash too, I'm sure HMRC love that .
I tried the food here recently, and it was just okay. The chips were pretty basic, nothing special. Even the salt and pepper chips didn't have much flavor, just a little sprinkle of seasoning. It was decent but nothing to rave about. I'd give it a 2 out of 10. Comparing it to homemade Chinese food, it definitely falls short in terms of taste and quality. They really need to step up their game when it comes to the food they're serving.
I have ordered from Double Happy for 18 years. They are the bomb. Food is amazing delivery is amazing. We have sadly moved away from the area. 6 months later I have not found anything close to this good. I miss you you guys Flat 4.
Very happy with my food. Good portions and fairly priced. The ribs were nice and meaty And satay chicken is probably the best i have had. Chow mein is nice but wasnt too Keen on special rice but thats because i Like mine Spicy but the fam doesnt. So thats a personal preferance the rest of the family loved it.Food: 4/5
Been going here for my cheat days. Really tasty classic Cantonese food. All your favourites on the menu. Everything is good. Massive portions. Like the prawn chow mein is enough for 2 ppl. Love the large spring rolls x2 per portion. Original style of cooking. Fresh ingredients. Open kitchen. Takeaway and cash only. You can watch the chefs cook your dishes. Free prawn crackers on orders over £10. Try the aubergine and mince pork gravy dish with rice. Sooooo good. Crispy chilli beef too! Gonna go there on Friday. Haha
Good for quick takeaway options. They do have vegetarian Chow mein.
The best take away Chinese, too many price increases now in my opinion. The best Salt and Pepper chips and Sweet and Sour pork, Sweet and Sour King Prawn is good too, but only 8 Prawns if you're sharing not enough. Open kitchen so if you are picking up you can watch it be cooked.Food: 5/5
ordered online. food was bad, rice tasted like cardboard and the chicken pieces in the 'chicken and sweet corn soup' tasted and looked nothing like chicken.. could not even eat it, was a waste of money! i might as well gotten a tesco meal deal for a fraction of the price, at least that tastes like food.Food: 1/5
I love this place. There's been a Chinese take-away at this site for the 22 years I've lived in the area. This one is the best. Typical 'British Chinese' menu, decent portions, well prepared. Neither cheap nor over-priced. If you live nearby, don't wait for delivery - go pick the order up yourself, it's usually ready to go in 15 minutes! What are these reviews badmouthing Double Happy's customer service? Surely EVERY Chinese takeaway has a grumpy woman who can't speak English on the phone. All part of the experience. I wouldn't order Chinese from anywhere else...
