The site has its Pros and cons. It’s nice being able to just park the car up And not have to venture out as beach and shops are all walking distance on the site which is great. Some parts of the site are very dated and isn’t the most flattering to look at but after all it is clacton. The row of shops, local pub and amusements on site is a bonus!
A good place for a family holiday. Shame, however, that the beach does not belong to the very neat - during a week's stay, twice after arriving on the beach we found a lot of bottles, cans and leftovers after grilling - but it rather shows us - tourists who do not care about the environment. Another minus that during the day a powerful tractor drives around the beach and helps motorboats to drain their equipment into the water. Prices in nearby stores or restaurants are not reaching the sky - a big plus - thank you.
Love our place by the sea. Very helpful staff, couldn't ask for more..
Great place to stay just a shame they keep uping the ground rent, then nothing gets fixed or no extra services for the increased payment, we waited 5 years for the slab the caravan sits on to be fixed, ended up getting a builder to do it which we had to pay for. Shame really.
Attempted to book swimming ahead of a holiday weekend with over 120 attempts to get through from 09.00 to 10.00 as well as several attempts to speak to reception which became increasingly rude. Having been over a year since restrictions would have been put in place I would of expected a telephone system with a queuing function or some sort of online booking form to be available, neither of which are hard to implement or expensive features. When I did manage to get through I was told that almost all 3 days I wanted to book where fully book. Overall, prior to even attending the park my opinion is already tarnished due to rude staff and poor infrastucture.
Friendly family run caravan park.very helpful and ground rent cheaper then others.
Pretty basic amenities. A few families with feral children let this sit down, part of Hutleys charm has always been it's friendly owners/visitors. Certain families allow their offspring to terrorise other folk who are simply trying to relax.
Have never stayed on the site but have used the facilities on a daily basis,typical east coast seaside good for those on a limited budget. Very few shops with the basics,there is a restaurant with a decent menu to choose from,fish and chip shop and a bar. Plenty of loos,there is a market on a Sunday,free parking everyday. Gravel/sand beach. It can get very busy at weekends. There is a naturist beach to the south of the site.
Disappointed that tourers are not welcome there anymore. Apparently the travellers did their usual and bombarded them the wouldn't pay or get off. But with good security it would have worked. Also, don't think you can get away with using your card. Far too 21st century. They are still in the 60's and obviously their accountant likes to make it simple and just deal in cash. Glad the restaurant has had a makeover.
I use the swimming pool as an outside member. Lovely little pool for such an amazing price. The sessions are worked out very well with covid in mind and you are very separate from other people.
