Perfect location for our needs, Room on the small size, Breakfast okay for £12 but didn't tell you if you don't book it in advance they add an extra £1.50 so wasn't happy about that nothing in the the booking confirmation, when I approached them about this they said its their policy, don't get it. Feel they need to sort their policies out
Room was compact, bathroom even smaller. The room had the basics needed and plug socket near to bed. Room was lovely and clean, bed was soft and comfortable. Had one spare pillow for a double room not sure why there wasn't two. Could of asked I suppose but didn't. Room had a fan and was very hot, tried to open windows but is on a very busy street and couldn't have slept with them open from road noise and local venues with music playing. Foyer looked impressive coming in, while place was lovely and clean throughout. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Parking was a very small area, not enough for whole hotel and was £12 for 24hrs, had electric car and luckily had one spot left as we arrived to be able to charge but other spaces occupied with ev cars were not charging. Real shame if people needed to charge, with people using spaces but not charging themselves. Breakfast was good. Chef was attentive and kept refilling. Plenty to choose from to get you going for your day. The hot food was not greasy at all, and seemed good quality. Would stay again but not in the warmer seasons. Rooms: Comfy bed, chargers by bedside table. Just a shame no air con. Walkability: Great location, we stayed here and went shopping at gunwharf just a 10 min walk away, then went to guildhall in evening with just a 5 min walk.
Nice hotel and staff mostly fine. The main issue is the bathrooms. They are really small and if you are 6ft+ like me or a bit heavy you will find sitting on the toilet uncomfortable and the shower a struggle. I ended up using the men’s room in the lobby. The hotel does have “accessible” rooms and I think if i stayed there again I might try one of those. Rooms: The bathrooms are far too small. Really poor design
I am writing this for the second time as it must have been deleted. I fount Tina at the reception extremely rude, un helpful and refused to show me policies I requested to see when she refused to change the name on our booking. She put the phone down on me twice, then answered the phone and left it on the side. Tina needs to be taught some manners and have some basic training on customer service as she is lacking in this. Reading other comments/reviews I am not the only one who has this problem.
There were 3 of us staying in separate rooms. Each of us paid around £200 per night, that was whether you were a couple of single, so you would have expected the room to be of a standard. The is tiny and you can barely move around. If one of you was in the bathroom, you were in fear of being hit by the door when in the clothes hanging area. The shower is tiny and you have to be careful not to hit your head when bending. The toilet is 30-40 cm from the wall and again you can hit your head if your have the porthole window open which is the only way to get any air. There is no air conditioning and the window in the bedroom opens only about 10cm. In London you can get a far superior room for about £120 less than you pay for this pokey little room. Extremely disappointed with what we paid for 3 nights. Also, breakfast and parking are extra!
Great location close to centre where there’s a nightlife, however, the room was like a uni dorm, the bathroom was tiny and the decor was gloomy. Furthermore, the shower screen door did not close properly but the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was unappealing and we were served undercooked sausages and whilst we had breakfast the ceiling started leaking next to us. The parking had to be paid for, which was not specified. Overall, the stuff were friendly and welcoming and happy to welcome dogs.
Cosy, clean room. Good for an overnight or maybe 2 night stay but any longer may be a bit tedious. Very clean and comfy. Small bathrooms but not bad for what was required. Very helpful staff and bar serving late. Close to rail links but about a 15 minute walk to the Historic area.Rooms: 4/5
Spencer and Abas gave exceptional service today. They went over and beyond what was expected of them in customer service, listening skills, ensuring that my Blind Friend was well taken care of and supported. The room offered was spacious, comfortable and easily accessible. Thanks again.Rooms: 5/5
Clean and safe hotel. Near all attractions. Lovely Reception staff. Good tea and coffee, seating area in Reception was really nice. Rooms: Spotlessly clean. Comfortable bed
I recently stayed at the Portsmouth IBIS, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. Firstly, the room I was allocated was incredibly small, offering very limited space. The bathroom was particularly disappointing; it was poorly maintained, with insufficient room in the toilet area, making it uncomfortable to sit without bumping into the walls. Moreover, the shower didn't drain properly, resulting in dirty water pooling around my ankles. To add to the discomfort, I noticed dog hairs scattered throughout the room, which was quite off-putting. Overall, the cleanliness standards were appalling, leaving much to be desired. When I raised my concerns with the staff, they were accommodating and offered to change my room. However, they also informed me that as a pet-friendly hotel, noise from animals on all floors could potentially disrupt my sleep, making the prospect of changing rooms less appealing. On a positive note, I must mention that the lobby area presented a stark contrast to the room. It was modern, clean, and spacious, offering a pleasant environment. Unfortunately, this only served to highlight the stark disparity in standards between the common areas and the accommodation itself.
