The hotel really is just a short walk from the railway station. We were given a warm welcome and check in was easy. We came by train so didn't use the adjacent car park.nOnce we had our key-card x2 we could access the stairs and let ourselves back in late at night. Our room was clean and warm. It was to the rear so had no road traffic noise.nThe street outside is closed to traffic from 9.00pm so there should be no traffic noise anyway.nStaff were very friendly.
We stayed in room 137 for £95.nnThe room backs on to a nightclub and Walkabout. We were sandwiched between crowds shouting and chanting until at least 4am and an altercation in the corridor at 2am.nnThe 'non smoking' room stunk of smoke..I am 8 months pregnant.nnThere was a sign in the room referencing the 'city noises' so clear it's a known issue. The noise level should be made explicit on the point of booking. I'm sure it would be fine for stag parties or if you were completely intoxicated.nnTo put in to context, I live in Bristol. Spent 7 years living on a main road & currently live opposite a pub. I do not need silence. However, I might as well have slept on the street outside Walkabout last night.nnStaff were friendly though, thanks guys!
Your welcome. I fixed your tv cable!! Not joking but I couldn’t fix the broken kettle, although didn’t want to touch it anyway as it was dirty.nDisgusting black mattress with an undescript white stain on it, seemed like they tried to cover it up with a mattress topper, that just made you sink in more and create less back support. Unpleasant, brown felt-like carpet. That also appeared dirty. Bathroom was a pod, and the toilet felt like it will come off the wall if you weren’t careful sitting down on it.nOverpaid for parking, as the instructions at the carpark were unclear, staff couldn’t help.nThe only fair experience was the simple check-in to get to the room.nArrived late due to a long journey, just wanted a clean and comfy space, overpriced for what we got. This was not it. Won’t be back.
Great location for a typical budget hotel. Free city centre parking is also helpful. However, we had a very uncomfortable night as the air cooling system within the hotel is currently not functioning and has not been since May 2024 according to staff meaning we were trying to sleep in a room at 26 degrees. Very very uncomfortable. This issue is not highlighted on the hotel website or prior to booking, say watch out in hot weather! Overall, I would not recommend this hotel.
Perfect for our half way one night stay before continuing on to Scotland for our holiday. The room was a good size, the hotel lounge area was a lovely space and it was a very pet friendly hotel. Staff were all lovely and extremely helpful.
