We went here for my birthday lunch, had a great time and the meal was amazing. We all enjoyed our choices. We've already booked for our next visit.
We turned up today without a booking but Michelle found us a table luckily. Thank you The food was superb as usual. Ham Egg and Chips and Katsu curry for us. The sausage roll for starter was amazzzzing. Like pulled pork. Mmmmmmmm The Hoop is by far the best pub near Billericay.
Excellent food and service, our favourite place to eat. Highly recommended
What an amazing find!! Wanted a dog friendly place to celebrate a birthday and still be able to take the puppy with us. The staff here could not be any more accommodating with regard to the dog, a bowl of water before we even got asked for a drink!! Lol. The food was excellent! Quick serving, fresh and hot, and absolutely delicious!! Scallops to start with, beef medallions with creamy mash, and apple and blackberry crumble with ice cream and custard. Now if you worried about dog hair in your food, there is an area that is dogs only so that they don't affect others. Can't wait to go back for more.
Beautiful pub/restaurant in the centre of this pretty Essex village. Very popular for Sunday lunch serving a selection of delicious roasts with all the trimmings. Service was very friendly, helpful and prompt but not intrusive. Parking is tight but there is a free car park just around the corner. Can thoroughly recommend.
Have just been for mother day. I just want to say how lovely it was. As always the food was outstanding but the service was wonderful and at the end of the evening each mother was given a hyacinth to take home. Such a thoughtful gesture! Wouldn’t recommend this to anyone enough on a special evening such as Mother’s Day. We had to pre-order our food which wasn’t an issue as we all wanted a roast. My daughter who is vegetarian had a lovey meal. Vegetarian options: The wellington was lovely, but would highly recommend the chickpea fritters even if a meat eater! They were amazing! Kid-friendliness: The children’s meals we nice portion sizes. Very child friendly
The only thing this place has against it is the lack of parking. If you're unlucky enough not to get a space directly outside the pub you're in for a short walk from the nearest place you can find. This isn't an issue for most but we were with elderly people and wasn't ideal. Once at the venue you'll find a very covid aware place to eat and drink with ample sanitisation for all. The table service is fast and efficient and the food is of a very high quality. All the waiting staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and are confident in their opinion of the food. The portion size is fair and is well cooked so no complaints there however drinks seem slightly over priced with Guinness for example £5 a pint where's my local £4.50 so not to bad. The outside seating is easily accessible to the disabled so that's a bonus. Overall this is a place I would visit again as I know the food is of a very good standard.
Hidden gem what a beautiful country pub. I cannot even begin to describe how amazing the food was, everything handmade by husband and wife. I have eaten in michelin star restaurants however the food here was far better! I was advised the food would be great and I knew it would, but this was far more than I expected. I am looking forward to my next visit to The Hoop.
Visited here on Saturday evening. A lovely pub, with traditional English food. The service was good, and the food tasty. The only reason for 4 stars is that a bit on the expensive side for a pub dinner. E.g. the rib eye steak £48. I’m sure it’s good, but prices may be a bit too much for a local pub. Will return, especially in the summer as they have a nice beer garden.
Very nice roast and fish and chips. Dessert was pretty amazing. Kid-friendliness: Nice menu for kids.
