Stopped in at the High Corner Inn for a pub lunch and was not disappointed at all. The pub staff were most welcoming and quickly assisted us with our family member in their wheelchair. The service was quick and courteous, the food was excellent! We enjoyed: pie of the week with chips and veg; High Corner burger with chips; fish cake and veg plate and kids chicken thigh with chips and beans. The tastes were wonderful, with homemade flavours and plentiful in size. I highly recommend The High Corner Inn to anyone looking for an “off the main road” kind of place with a real pub feel. Next time I visit the UK, we will definitely return to The High Corner Inn.
Lovely quiet location, friendly bar staff. Drinks were a little on the pricey side but not too bad. Food service on a Saturday night stopped at 8am though, likely due to the quiet location but it meant we couldn't eat so had to have crisps instead. Just fair warning to future customers. I have eaten here before though and the food was very nice
Beautiful relaxing atmosphere, friendly and very helpful manager. Lovely open fire, great food, highly recommend the steak and the fishcakes. Beer was served at the correct temperature, not chilled. The bedroom was perfect, felt totally spoilt! Highly recommended, will return again soon.Rooms: 5/5
We only stayed one night but had a lovely welcome by Roger and Max. Nice Country pub bar area. Lunch and breakfast was very good with a reasonable menu selection. The room was a nice size but let down by the decoration and furniture that really needs refurbishing.. It is a great location for going out for walks through the forest but beware the gravel drive leading from the main road is full of very large potholes..!
Absolutely stunning location, the food was very good, nice big portions and the beer on offer from the local brewery was outstanding. Outside playground for the kids and a really friendly staff. It's very busy so I'd advise booking ahead, fortunately they worked us in.Service: 5/5
We had a lovely time staff were friendly and helpful. Nreakfast was especially amazing. Only negative the shower needs grout bleaching and a professional deep, perhaps steam clean as all was spotless but this meant room only got 4 stars.Rooms: 4/5
What a lovely quaint pub! In the middle of nowhere. Only popped in for a pint, because we saw the signpost at the end of the road! What unexpected surprise! We landed up having a couple of bowl's of chips which where nice! And a pint each as it was a late lunch. Think we will be definitely back for dinner!
Hotel in general is lovely and set in the heart of the forest. The staff were helpful and very friendly. BUT.....Very disappointed with the room. Booked a superior room with large bathroom including both bath and shower. The room was small and basic and we only had a bath with a basic hand shower attachment next to the taps. IF.....I went back I would hope to get the superior room I booked and not the small one we ended up with
Booked for Sunday lunch for 2pm. Food came out at 3:15pm with no cutlery. Had to get our own. Yorkshire pudding frozen in the middle and portion size minimal. Manager seemed to be the barman, and other staff had little interest. Only 6 staff in total with over 200 bookings plus walk ins. Heard manager say to a customer they had 50 complaints over the weekend. Shocking service with mediocre food. Refused to pay full bill and it seemed that wasn't a uncommon occurrence. Wont be back.
We went to the New Forest for a weekend break because we have never been there before, and I must say the area around High Corner Inn is must see. It's great for strolling, sightseeing, cycling, and off-road biking, and there's plenty to keep you busy. The High Corner Inn is hidden away in the woods deep in the valley. Because of the location, the wifi is almost non existent, but who needs it when you're there to appreciate the surroundings in all its glory. All of the staff were helpful, especially Roger, who grabbed our bags as soon as we arrived, made booking in a breeze, and took us immediately to our room. He was polite and conversational, and he even went out of his way to give my partner a free drink for her birthday, as stated on the menu on the tables. We'd also want to thank Clive for the recommendations on treks around the area; due to the internet going in and out of service, we hadn't brought any paper maps and had to rely completely on Google Maps, which wasn't ideal. Even when he was extremely busy, he took care of both of us. The food was made to an extremely high standard, arrived on time, and was hot. The presentation of the plates was similar to dining at a five-star hotel. Whoever your chef is, send her a hearty congratulations, please. The room itself was really pleasant, a little dusty in a few places, not many electric sockets, and a few lights not working, but this is to be expected in older buildings. The beds were comfortable and clean, and there were even subtitles on the television for my deaf partner. The greatest part of the holiday, in our opinion, was the magnificent huge, long bath in the accommodation, especially after two long, long treks through the New Forest. We will definitely return to this place and would highly suggest it to any of our friends and family.
