My partner and I spent a weekend here in mid-July. I had expected it would be nice, and it greatly exceeded these expectations. The building and surroundings are lovely, but it's really the staff, service and food which make the experience so special. We had two dinners and two breakfasts in the restaurant, with the best risotto I think I've ever had and some of the best desserts the other food was fantastic too, those were just the standouts. We also had great cocktails, wine and non-alcoholic options. The tour of the kitchen garden is inspiring and we went on some other nice walks in the wider area. It is expensive as other reviews note - but I think it was fairly priced for the quality and thought behind every aspect of the experience.
First time visit and we was welcomed at the door and escorted to the bar as I needed assistance with my wheelchair so that I could enjoy my visit, staff were patient and polite through. The Pig has such a nice ore about it in its style and pretty spacious. Room for me to navigate around. Food was awesome lovely variety of food and waiting staff knew the menu and explained it well. Could not have felt more welcomed. I had the lamb steak which was perfectly cooked and tasted lush. Could be deemed as a little expensive however the quality of the place and the food makes it worth it.
Nice environment and cozy. Many good reviews of this restaurant and we were looking forward to nice dinner at Brockenhurst on our first night with confidence of a good meal after reading many good reviews. To our disappointment and nothing to shout about in our ordered dishes the at The Pig Kitchen Garden Very salty piggy bits including other small bits were not up to mark too. Pork chops were Ok.
I recently visited my first ‘Pig’ hotel, and I can safely say I’ll be visiting more! Although I didn’t stay, I stopped for dinner and drinks in the beautiful restaurant - and it was sublime. I particularly loved the ethos behind the menu, which predominantly featured food either grown themselves in their kitchen garden or sourced within 25 miles of Brockenhurst. Before dinner we enjoyed some drinks on their lovely terrace in the sunshine. They have a great selection of drinks, as well as some delicious and rather unusual cocktails. The food was absolutely amazing, and it really made the local produce sing. I started with the Ham Hock Terrine which was beautifully flavoured and worked well with the tart Piccalilli. For main course I tried their Grilled Aubergines from the Isle of Wight, which came alongside freshly picked Broadbeans and Hummus. It was very satisfying and well flavoured. I opted for the Gooseberry Fool for dessert which rounded off the meal perfectly. The service was friendly and attentive by the waitresses looking after us, and overall, the entire experience was nothing short of perfect. I loved everything about The Pig Brockenhurst, from the beautiful setting and ambience to the wonderful food. I’d highly recommend a visit if you’re in the New Forest - and I will certainly be trying other ‘Pigs’ in the future!
Great place to go for special occasion and dinning experience. This is rather top end food place so expect to pay over £50 per person excluding drinks. Atmosphere is good and views great. I would love to stay here one night but is out my price bracket. Noteworthy details: Friendly and welcoming staff.
Absolutely amazing meal. We joined for dinner. The food was brilliant and very tasty. Would recommend the pork chop and the burrata and tomato salad. We also had an amazing ceviche. Unfortunately we didn’t stay at the hotel as it was fully booked! However, we would definitely love to go back, all ingredients were locally sourced and very fresh. They also had amazing gluten free bread!
This place is amazing and I would absolutely come here again and again. We came for dinner and the setting was beautiful, service was friendly and speedy, food was delicious. Cocktails were yum and we went for a walk in the kitchen garden afterwards which was stunning. A real treat and so worth the money.Service: 5/5
My wife saw the restaurant on TV and we booked for her birthday treat. We got there early and had a cocktail outside and a wander around the kitchen gardens and grounds which was nice. We were also treated to some small nibbles of salami and pickled vegetables which was excellent the service was spot on. When our time came we were shown into the restaurant where the service there was a little mixed. Having to ask to be served bread when those around who were seated after us was on their second or third serving, ask 2 or 3 times for some ice. Small thing I know but when you see staff walk past and specifically look and see your small plate hasnt been used not once but numerous times and no one asks, poor service they seemed a little more attentive to tables with room keys - my perception I people watch. The food was lovely each course was not over priced, that said there was two pork dishes on the menu that are standard pub food pork belly and pork chop perhaps something a little different from "The Pig" could have been created. But thats only my view and doesn't detract from the food served. We had the Fishy bites as a bite on Smoked Ox tongue which just melted in the mouth and Beet Cured Trout for starters, both I would have happily eaten again. Mains was the pork belly and grilled Mackerel both very good I had the pork belly with a garden salad. All in all was a nice place and good meal minor points on service would i recommend of course.
We live locally and recently stopped for a coffee however service was very slow: we needed to ask three times before we received our coffees which eventually arrived after 30mins - but the staff were apologetic and gave us them on the house. We thought we'd give The Pig the benefit of the doubt and try dinner. Although the oxtail Ragu was tasty, the hake was bland. The biggest disappointment though was the slow, and almost non-existent service: we waited over 20mins before someone came to our table, we weren't offered any bread which appeared to be given out as standard here, and we had to ask for most things ourselves e.g. can we order please? can we see the dessert menu? please can we have some water? etc. They seemed more preoccupied with getting as many people into the restaurant as possible, than attending to the customers who were sat waiting. Given the price point of the restaurant, we expected top-notch service and stand out food. Unfortunately both were lacking. Would recommend saving your money and head to a local pub instead.
Had dinner here for my wife's birthday, and we were both very happy with everything. All of the staff were friendly and welcoming. Their 25-mile menu is unique and means that everything you eat and drink is locally sourced. The meal was of high quality, and we would definitely come again.Service: 5/5
