We had our wedding here and had a two night stay with our young son and 2 dogs. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, nothing was too much trouble. My son was made to feel just as welcome and treated as an absolute gentleman. The dogs of course were not left out and staff were extremely accomodating. The two of us have since returned for a couple's stay and everything was just as perfect. The Montagu Arms Hotel will always be a special place for us and intend on returning again in the near future.
A really wonderful place to stay. Excellent rooms with character. Wonderful fine dining is available in the restaurant. Added character from the ponies that wonder the streets. I think there was also cow blocking the entrance to the car park when we arrived.Rooms: 5/5
We stayed here having won an overnight night stay in a Courtyard Deluxe with dinner and breakfast. Our only gripe was that we couldn’t use the gift voucher on a Saturday night, so couldn’t enjoy breakfast in the morning as it didn’t start until 0730, we had to be away for work. The room was wonderful, clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for an overnight stay. We had a delicious three course dinner in the Terrace restaurant, however we felt at £75pp this was a little overpriced for us. The hotel and grounds are immaculately presented. There were a couple of things that could be considered for change; The tea tray is precariously perched on a folding trestle table with a hot kettle and coffee machine, perhaps a sturdier base might be better. The lighting outside could be dimmed overnight as it lights up the room and as a consequence we didn’t have a great nights sleep. But overall would recommend this hotel and we would happily return.
We rocked up for an evening meal last Saturday and during my walk there I suffered an injury to my ankle and knee. The staff looked after me brilliantly, supplied me with ice packs for the swelling. They were very attentive and kept checking on me. They arranged a taxi back to our boat at Bucklers Hard which we were staying on. Vincento was especially brilliant. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal which was lovely. Fantastic team who are working there.
Been here a few times over the years for various meals and stays - it is always excellent. Hayloft and garden rooms are incredibly nice and the food is superb. Fantastically cosy in the winter months and the garden is beautiful in the summer.
WoW, just how fantastic are the team at the Montagu Arms. We booked a wedding venue tour back in the middle of 2022 with Clara. We arrived on the day and could not believe how incredibly friendly all of the staff were, and how homely it felt. On the day we met Clara wedding liaison, Paul Barman and Matt gardener who we had a lovely chat with. Having looked at other venues and find the experience and service inferior by far! We made the decision to hold our wedding at the Montagu arms, and could not be happier that we did.We wanted an intimate wedding for around 20 people, and this venue was absolutely perfect. The communication throughout was impeccable and patient as we may have struggled with some decisions. We attended for the menu tasting and once again were treated fantastically, seeing Clara, Paul and Matt again, along with some other members of the team. The extremely high level of service just runs throughout the team. As we got closer to the day we were in more regular contact with the venue, and that was also prompt and highly professional. Mostly in contact with Clara and Paige in her absence. When the day arrived again the team could not have been anymore helpful, and truly made our wedding day the best day of our lives. It was all we had hoped for and more. Clara took care of us until the start of the ceremony and then handed over to the team taking care of us for the day.Edward, Ben and Paul checked with us throughout the day, and ensured every aspect of our requirements were met. Flexible with our schedule and making sure that everything was perfect. This was the theme for the entire day, whereby all of our guests as well as ourselves felt so incredibly well looked after. In the evening they were assisted by Lewis and I believe Roman, who again were so respectful, professional and courteous. We stayed two nights and met some more of the team, including Louise on the reception. Again nothing seemed too much trouble. From that first meeting till the time we left after our stay, we felt that our happiness was in the foremost of the entire team of Montagu arms. I will simply say that if you are looking for a venue whereby you will be looked after amazingly by the entire team. Your happiness is foremost, and your day the most amazing it can be. Look no further than the Montagu Arms, they will only enhance and make your day the best it can be. We would like to say a very heartfelt thank you to the entire team for making our stay and wedding all it could be and more. You really helped make it a day to remember. Beautiful hotel, we had superior double rooms overlooking the garden. Very cosy with the fire lit in the lounge and entrance way. Staff all friendly and helpful! Breakfast delicious and varied.
Had an afternoon tea for my birthday here and it was very nice. The gardens are beautiful and food was delicious. They also fit us in at late notice which was kind.Service: 4/5
Just enjoyed a lovely tasting menu. The staff are very welcoming and knowledgeable, the general manager should be very proud of the front of house team, special thanks to Paulo, Ed, Olfa and of course Paul and his smile. Chef every dish was beautifully presented and tasted delicious, hats off to you and your team. Looking forward to next time.
