AVOID! The absolute worst doesn't even cover it. When we went to collect our car at 8pm, as requested, there was nobody there! This was because James, the employee, had left early- despite knowing we were arriving at 8pm. After another family managed to notify a manager in hertz, James was called back in. He was unbelievably rude and snarky- and snapped when we pointed out that he had left early. He then refused to let us pay for the car and was going to leave us stranded at the airport without it! We had to apologize and beg him for the car. I have NEVER met a nastier, self pitying person. I will never be travelling with Hertz again and I recommend you don't either.
AVOID AVOID AVOID I tried to drive into this hertz to drop my husband off to collect his hire car. The barrier failed to lift so I had to reverse out and got a £60 fee by the corrupt parking company that run the airport! The staff at this hertz then didn't pick the phone up we constantly rang for two days to try and find out their opening hours. Spend your money else were, there are several other companies who are a pleasure to deal with in the same area.
Absolutely terrible service. Turned up and nobody there despite our reservation clearly showing the date. Website showed open Monday- Friday. This meant extra expense for us due to booked accommodation and loss of a day’s hire. Turned up the next day and said we do not work Bank Holidays. No apology, slow service and attitude left a bit to be desired. Did get a car from there eventually but an extremely slow process. Still waiting to hear re compensation.
Please avoid renting or returning to this Hertz location! They are running a scam. We returned our rental to Liverpool airport, when we got there the returns office was shut, a sign on the door saying “please go to main office” also nobody there so we had to put our keys in the drop box. When we picked up the car in Scotland we took photos of the entire vehicle to cover ourselves. There was a scrape on the back bumper. This scrape was also shown in the pre-rental condition report for the car. However, we have been charged for the damage without any communication from the company except for an invoice. There is also no phone number that you can call to address the issue. The customer support email keep saying “please provide documentary evidence” after I have send the pre-rental condition report photos and photos taken ourselves. I have read other reviews and can tell this has happened to other people. This company should feel ashamed at the way they treat their customers. Scamming young travellers who work hard to experience the trip of a life time is disgusting.
Summary: Not fit for purpose Background: Been using Hertz for years with no problems. This was my first time using the Liverpool Airport branch because the Vauxhall Road branch and all other local branches were closed at time of booking because of Covid. For this booking, I was returning a vehicle to the Liverpool Airport branch which I had picked up at a branch in Oxford. Experience: You won't be able to find where to pick up/drop off the car using the branch address in your sat nav. I had to ask airport security to direct me. Big inconvenience number 1. When I eventually found the pick up/ drop off car park, there was no attendant in the cabin. The notice on the cabin said "if the car park cabin is unattended please can you drop your key at our Rental Office directly opposite the Terminal building". I waited and waited, walked around the car park, as I would have liked a rep to confirm I had returned the car on time and in its current condition! In the end, I had no choice but to follow the contingency plan. Big inconvenience number 2. I leave the car in the car park, walk 15 mins over to Terminal building and then spend approx 20 mins trying to locate the Rental Office not at all clear with multiple car rental company logos plastered on what only appeared to be a multi-storey car park. There was nothing to direct you to the Hertz rental office or the key box. Eventually, after trying and continuing to fail to get through to the local rep on the phone, I had to call the Oxford branch where I had picked up the car. They were very helpful, put me on hold, called the site manager, who could only be as specific as "opposite the yellow statue" !. Eventually I found the inconspicuous key box with the tiny Hertz logo. Big inconvenience number 3 and I think there is a 4 or 5 in there! I was able to escape without having to wait for a seemingly elusive customer service rep to appear because I could just deposit the key in the box. Thank goodness I wasn't picking up a car! Result: I will not be using the Liverpool Airport branch again and until the other branches reopen, I will be using another rental company.
The worst! I reserved a large L2 car, arrived at the place and was given a small Toyota Yaris with no explanations. Was said that it was all they had. I paid tripple the price with no compensation. Awful! P.S. Even worse, I reached out to customer service and was said the following "Kindly note that after proper investigation regarding your reservation, we have found that the charges regarding the car rate were charged to you correctly and does not qualify you for a refund" How can you book a L2 car, get a small car and not get any refund. Now, your reply means that you want to talk on Facebook messenger which I do not even have.
I got to the airport with my 2 year old and this silly place was closed. No communication, nothing. Absolutely pathetic. I was stranded at this airport with my toddler and no means of transport. I had to ask for help to get a taxi that cost me an arm and a leg. Whats more is I paid for this rubbish and got nothing. Absolute SCAM.
All ok dropping off. Bit of a walk to the terminal. Luckily the weather was dry. Man who checked us in was friendly and helpful. Had to pay a toll charge through the Internet, nothing to do with Hertz, but you need to be aware of it if you use that particular road. There seemed to be no other way to pay. Morrison's petrol station is just before the airport, travelling west. useful if you are dropping off a hire car that needs to be full.
Awful! Terrible customer service, unreliable- and if you do get in bother, there's no number to call!
Rented a car through Expedia and when I got there the man who was wearing a Hertz shirt the office looked like a Hertz office. Then he says he can get me a car to come back at noon. I did then it came to ppthe cost I was told it would be about 565 dollars. I had pre paid the insurance with Expedia and he tells it is no good and I need to pay 987 dollars to rent the car. I didn't rent it and will never rent through Hertz again and will never recommend them to any one.
