I recently rented a car at Newquay Airport for 4 days in May.  I booked and paid online through Auto Europe €156.70.  Very friendly staff and on picking up the car we were told there were a couple of marks which we noted.  I was also asked to leave my credit card details as surety.  We spent several lovely days driving around Cornwall and dropped the car back, full of petrol and as far as we were concerned in the same condition as when we took it out,  apart from being in need of a wash.  The rental desk was very busy when we dropped the keys back to the Hertz and were told that we did not need to wait. 
Some days later I was horrified to see a bill of €472.61 come through on my credit card, on top of €156.70 already paid on line to auto Europe, and rang Hertz customer Care on 1 June.  I spoke with a very helpful representative who advise that I had two options, open-up a complaint, or she could put me through directly to the Airport in Newquay.  Luckily, I opted for both as when she put me through to the Airport the line was, I suspect, cut off.  
I tried ringing the Airport again only to join a long queue of "your call is important to us", obviously not important enough to take in the first place.  Having already waited on the line over 10 minutes to speak to the initial representative I was not prepared to go through the procedure again.  Great Service!

I had booked a car at short notice and after a nerve wracking flight, arrived at the Hertz office at Newquay airport. All seemed to be going well until the Hertz chap, informed me that my licence had, in fact, expired. 
Without a word, Matt H, got on the phone to see if there was anything Hertz could do to help my predicament. It was dark, very foggy, late and I was there because my son in law, suddenly became life threatening ill. I had, literally dropped everything and jumped on the first flight I could get there. My daughter is  registered disabled and they have two small children and they live in an isolated location. Matt asked his supervisor, if he could drive me in the car I had booked. It was an hours drive. The supervisor said no, as I suspected he would, saying it wasnt Hertzs, fault. 
I had to get a very expensive taxi in the end Matt H stayed with me until I was all sorted.
I didnt write this review for Hertz as a company but for  the kindness and care that Matt H, in the Newquay Airport office, showed towards a very worried Mother/mother-in-law/grandmother. 
I have now renewed my licence and am able to hire a car. I would use Hertz again in the hope I get the service and attention, I got from Matt H!
I will call Hertz in the morning and attempt to hire a car with the approval from the DVLA and no physical licence.
