Always loved coming here from when I was a child. Lovely walks around the lakes, fields and forest areas. Lots of insects, butterflies, birds, rabbits etc. Toilets are clean, parking is ample if a little expensive, and staff are friendly. There is a small cafe that serves hot drinks and nibbles/ice cream, and accessible walks around the lakes via a board walk.
Wide-open flower meadows and ancient woodlands make Hatfield Forest a wonderful location for young and old, NT-members or non-members. You can easily spend a day walking around the expansive parklands and woodlands. In the main centre, there is a small shop and cafe offering hot and cold refreshments. There's a boating lake which offers pedalos in the summer. There's plenty of benches and seating, but also lots of space to bring picnic blankets. You can do den-building in the woods.
Just a wonderful place to visit. Little shop on site with ice creams cold/hot drinks and food. Dogs allowed in most parts with lovely walking routes. They used to have boats on the lake but they have gone, not sure if just for covid or if they are permanently gone now which is a great shame. Overall a great place for families to spend the day with a picnic.
Beautiful place, very tranquil. Nice picnic area by the lake, with a lovely little kiosk selling hot sausage rolls, cakes, ice creams etc. Interesting history too!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
Great location for walking, dog friendly and lovely views across the lake. Parking is expensive if you’re not a member and the service at the café is poor, always a queue and limited seating.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo wait
A wet grey day accompanied by Saharan dust made the landscape a tad bleak, but lovely to get out of the big smoke into the open spaces.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
Lovely cisit today! Looks of places to views and see wildlife and nature. We saw baby calf's and baby geese today.Visited onWeekday
Lovely walks, great cafe, chips, bacon butties, sausage roll etc on sale. We'll worthbthe visit. Restrooms: Clean, wheelchair friendly Dog-friendliness: Very dog friendly Picnic area: Seating, noth outdoor and under cover but not totally inside
Good place for family walk and trees studying activity, plenty of space for every one including dogs. Despite the parking during winter maybe restricted but for a single person or two people to take public transport to the closest bus stop at the Green Man B&B, Takeley and walking from there is not too bad to.
Lovely place to visit and spend a few hours. Delicious cakes and tea at the café and the the dogs had doggie ice cream!
