Just had a wonderful two night stay in this lovely country pub, to attend a wedding at Wharfedale Grange. The new tenants go above and beyond to ensure complete satisfaction and made our stay most enjoyable. The food was great quality and very reasonable. Perfect location for Harrogate too! Highly recommend. Rooms: Very comfortable, clean rooms. Nearby activities: Great location for Harrogate, country walks and a fantastic pint of bitter Food & drinks: Excellent home cooked food at very reasonable prices, served quickly and with a smile. Great pint of Samuel Smiths bitter served here. Noteworthy details: New, enthusiastic staff.
What a wonderful little hotel. The rooms were clean and well serviced. The shower incredible. Beds comfy. The food was great, served quickly and with a smile. The breakfast was spot on, full English as you would expect. We absolutely loved the digital detox part of the pub, it was refreshing and fun. There are board games, newspapers and good company. Well done and thank you to the team for hosting us this weekend it's been a lovely stay.
Great pub and hotel. No phones allowed in the bar but that didn't bother us. Ended up chatting to others. Rooms were a decent size and very cleanRooms: 5/5
Stopped off for a late lunch with friends who came to the Dog Show at Harewood House. They hadn't experienced Sam Smith's pubs before so all the rules etc were a bit of a surprise to them & it meant I couldn't sit and share photos of my new niece on my phone with them! The food was ok and that's as effusive as anyone would get about typical Sam Smith's fare. The best that could be said really was that it wasn't very expensive. A shame really as the location is fantastic, the building traditional but nice and the drinks are very well priced. With great food, it would be fantastic. Staff were new and a little inexperienced, but friendly and helpful.
Returned to our favourite pub/location for a 2 night stay and was greeted by a new manager and new staff. I was aware prior to booking this time about the new management. I can say how lovely everyone was, Reyann and Jolene were perfect hosts, very engaging and accommodating. Dexter one of the new barmen was very engaging and obliging. Also lovely to see Angela again! Thank you for making our stay perfect! We look forward to seeing you soon and trying some of those South African dishes. Love Wendy & Trini x.
I had the pleasure of staying two nights at the Harewood Arms hotel. We stayed near the venue of a family wedding! Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Amanda served us our breakfast both morning at the hotel and she was amazing. Amongst our party were 4 young children 3 aged 3 and a five year old! She went above and beyond to do what was best for us and the children. Telling us about a park adjacent to the hotel which allowed us the chance to let them have a good play before our long journey home! Can’t thank you enough! Rooms food and hospitality truly home from home!
This was a nice pub a few years back, now the place is staffed by rude and obnoxious poeple, I was standing at the bar waiting for someone to serve us and was just closing down my walking app, when this really rude member of staff came round the corner, Barking at me that mobile devices are not allowed in this pub loud enough for the whole bar to hear, there was just no need for it, but you can still pay your bill with a your phone!!! Sorry that's double standards. Staff really need training on how to talk to customers. Walkability: There is a great 7 mile walk going out the back of the pub that takes you around the Harewood estate and ends up back at the pub
Lovely hotel new owners have just taken over.Rooms are a nice size . bathroom's are in need of update but the price is fair for what you get . only criticism would be a very small breakfastRooms: 4/5
We were working as photographers at a nearby wedding, so this hotel was an ideal location for us. The bar area is ok, but does lack a little ambience for my liking. The pub is a mobile free zone, which on the face of things is a good idea, my wife and I enjoyed chatting with the locals in there. I would point out, if you’re on a working trip and need to use your laptop you’ll struggle in your room as the WiFi and mobile signals are really poor. I’m not sure what it’s like in the main bar area as I didn’t use my mobile there. The beer is Samuel smiths which was great. The food was ok, standard British pub food, nothing to rave about though. The room we had was nice a spacious with a big bed. Under the bed hadn’t been cleaned for a while as my wife pointed out when she put her suitcase underneath. Some of the plug sockets didn’t work. The shower curtain could do with replacing as it was slightly mouldy on the bottom. The toilet seat needs replacing it was rotting underneath. The bed was really comfortable. The breakfast was ok. I had to ask for almond milk, luckily they had some in the kitchen, might be worth just putting it out to save people the hassle of asking for it. Also didn’t see any options for gluten free bread. The first morning was quiet as we were in there early, so the service was pretty quick. The second morning we were later after a long 12 hours of photography the day before we stayed in ed a bit longer. The restaurant was busy. We waited about 20 minutes from ordering our breakfast to it arriving. I needed the toilet before my breakfast arrived, so went to the gents round the corner from the breakfast room, it was locked. So I went to the bar toilet, the bar was locked, which meant getting the key from my wife and heading back to my room. Not ideal. Overall, I’d say the hotel could do with some tlc, there’s a lot of areas which look a little shabby and run down.
Friendly staff, I asked for gluten free bread and the chef made a point of coming over to our table and checking what I could and couldn't eat, which was really good. On the downside, I ordered a chicken burger and was served a beefburger, I don't eat beef. I took this back, and it was replaced with a chicken burger, but the chips looked and tasted like they had been reheated, so I'm guessing they were the chips that were served with the beefburger. I wasn't offered a refund for the difference in price between the beefburger and chicken burger, I had to ask for it. I certainly won't be eating there again.
