Worst possible start to my stay, spa was closed and i was not told about this beforehand and i called up 2 weeks before to check my reservation and at that point the spa was closed for 4 weeks already. They then had the cheek to say you can use the local leisure centre like thats the reason why i wanted to stay. Then they gave us a room with someone already in there!! Luckily no one was in the room could have been a very embarrassing situation. Hotel manager upgraded us and gave us free lunch with drinks plus a free 2 night stay next time. So for now can not give it more than 2 star's as i need to see how the next stay goes plus i can rate the spa on that day (the only reason you book a spa hotel is to use the spa). Only got an extra star because the manager was great.

Performing for a friend's wedding with my band. Unfortunately the event timings had changed and we hadn't been informed which got us off to a bad start but they did their best to accommodate this on the day. We were served a few bottom of the barrel ales too which were undrinkable. However, the building was wonderful and the Champagne was affordable! I would like to go back as a relaxed guest sometime!

Beautiful hotel with some great character features - the fireplace to the left through the main entrance is stunning, especially all decorated for Christmas. The staff I spoke to were friendly and helpful. Parking needs to be looked at during busy times & when events are on as there is not nearly enough spaces for the number of guests expected. Many cars had to park on the grass verges down the lane - not ideal either for keeping the hotels gardens looking nice or for guests dressed up that have to wade through the mud on a wet day & then walk for several minutes up the road.

Spent the day in the spa. Lovely staff, but it really is in need of some urgent investment... The outside pool is closed (we weren't warned); only one hair dryer was working in the ladies changing room; lunch was overpriced (a disappointing, tough chicken sandwich); soft drinks are small (200ml coke) and overpriced; the place is cold (they had additional heating last year); be careful to check what classes they have on - there was a noisy aquarobics session running while we were there (although it did look fun); there are tiles coming off the walls and stains on poolside loungers. The afternoon tea was nice, as was the massage. There weren't many people there, so it was nice and quiet. It used to be such a nice place to go to. Hopefully the management will fix the problems and return it to how it once used to be.

Gorgeous property settled in the country, with easy access from the nearby highway. The staff are very welcoming, and accommodating. The bedrooms are very spacious, and the beds are some of the most comfortable I've ever slept in. Large, spacious bathrooms, with plenty of room to stretch out in the tub. The garden is breathtaking, and offers dining overlooking this space. The pricing here is extremely reasonable, which makes the stay here all the more rewarding. If you're ever in this area, I highly recommend an overnight stay, and a walk through the gardens. It's truly picture-book worthy!
