Halifax is a vibrant town situated in Calderdale, West Yorkshire. It has a thriving market and plenty of shops, cafes and activities to keep all the family busy.nnThe historic Piece Hall, the last remaining fully intact cloth guild building in the UK, has plenty going on, but check before visiting, as they have a lot of paid entry only concerts and activities during the summer months.nnIf you have kids in tow, then the Eureka, National Museum of Childhood, is a definite must do. With both indoor and outdoor activities, and a massive, interactive learning centre, this is a spectacular space for children and adults of all ages and physical abilities. They also cater for children with autism and other challenges with a wonderful sensory area and inclusivity work ethic from their brilliant staff.
Great town filled with historic buildings and amazing history for such a small town there's so much history and great buildings and landmarks from the amazing peice hall to wainhouse tower. And shibden Hall or Dean clough Mills so many more
This was a great station for both arrival and departure, with well-sized platforms for the trains! Signs help navigate around and out of the station; exiting is easy through the staircase then walkway. Cleanliness had been maintained and departure boards are scattered around, although one was not up to date on our platform.
This station as so much potential so I'm not sure why it doesn't do so well, the cleaning staff always keep the station very clean for what they have and they're always making sure the place is presentable.nnThe office staff can be very helpful depending on who you get and what time it is but I'm sure that's the same way for most businesses. The ticket machines don't always work which can be a problem for most of us as we need them to renew our travel cards so they definitely could improve them or maybe replace the ones they have with ones that work 99% of the time.nnThey have a small cafe inside the station which I wouldn't recommend using due to the outrageous prices they charge. If you're coming to this station you're better off stopping at a shop on the way down due to its close location to the town centre you could get food and drinks a lot cheaper.nnThe inside waiting room is just that a waiting room they do sometimes turn the heat on during the winter and there is a public toilet inside there that's wheel chair friendly. I've not see any drug addicts using the toilet to do their drugs in the last year so they have improved that too.nnThe parking outside is a bit crazy so if you're not very confident with your driving I recommend taking a taxi or public transport. The parking lot is very small with limited spaces and they fit a but stop and a taxi parking section all in the same area and on top of that people are always dropping off and picking people up. Early hours and later in the day it can become a problem and very busy which causes a que.nnThey have a bike scheme where you can rent a bike to go around town with and then return it for a small fee which is great and they also provide a place to keep your own bike so it's safe and secure. I've not heard much about bikes being stolen from this station so it would definitely be worth the risk.
This station is connected well with Northern trains of West Yorkshire rail network, Station needs improvement for commuters.Parking facilities is good and well established electronic ticket systems.
